Customer Reviews
This campground is one of the best in Bishop Creek. There are great shaded creekside campsites that are well spaced and are amazing if u can get one. Other sites are still well spaced, some lack shade, but the creek is still easily accessible by a very small walk. There is running water and normal bathrooms at the campground. The new camp hosts are great welcoming people who care for their campground and keep things in top shape.
While on a road trip from the San Francisco Bay Area to Northern Colorado in mid-August, 2021, we stayed at this campground for 2 nights and had no problem finding a flat, shaded site by one of the big Jeffery Pine trees on a hot Sunday afternoon. This campground does not take reservations. The flush toilets and potable water spigots throughout the campground make for a nice experience. At 7,500’ elevation, it was considerably cooler than the 98° in nearby Bishop at 4,150’ elevation. Our site was on the east side of the campground next to the pleasantly babbling Bishop Creek – very nice! It is only a short 10 mile drive on an excellent paved road to the Bishop Pass Trailhead, where we enjoyed a great hike up to Long Lake.
We paid for the first day through a friend who was there visiting other friends until noon. We arrived at noon and began to set up camp. Camp Host demanded we pay again. We asked him to explain where our receipt went that was attached to the post. He admitted to taking it. Long story short, we paid him again. Also, the fee he charged was more than usual. When I asked for a receipt for the total amount paid he refused to provide it. It appears campers are supplementing this individual's retirement income! Other than that, we enjoyed our stay.
It was incredible. Beautiful area wasn't too busy we were fortunate. Yes there was portable potties there very clean. But in front when you first came in they did have real restrooms running water that was very nice if you wanted to walk the distance otherwise beautiful area comfortable camping I recommend it to everybody
Very clean campground love it definitely will be back
