Bison Peak Lodge at Puma Hills Introduce

Welcome to Bison Peak Lodge at Puma Hills, a distinctive offering in the Campgrounds & RV Parks category, located at 20859 Co Rd 77, Lake George, CO 80827. This property presents a unique opportunity for a "glamping" experience and serves as a spectacular venue for events.

Environment: Bison Peak Lodge is situated in a breathtaking location with stunning views and offers a memorable natural environment. The property features a sailcloth tent and various accommodation options, including tents, a main lodge, and cabins. While one review mentioned ongoing construction and the area around the tent not being perfectly kept up, the overall setting is described as beautiful, with opportunities for enjoying sunrises and exploring trails with scenic vistas.

Services: As a provider within the Campgrounds & RV Parks category, Bison Peak Lodge offers lodging in extremely clean and well-thought-out accommodations. Guests have access to amenities within their chosen lodging, such as necessities and even extras like books and board games in the cabins. The staff is highlighted as being incredible, very attentive, communicative, and friendly, providing unmatched hospitality. It is worth noting that the venue is at a high elevation, and portable oxygen is available on site for guests who may need it.

Features: A key feature of Bison Peak Lodge is the option for on-site accommodation for large groups, making it ideal for events like weddings, where friends and family can stay together for a "glamping" weekend. The sailcloth tent provides a gorgeous event space. The property includes a site map with trails and activities, allowing guests to explore the surroundings. The availability of different lodging types (tents, lodge, cabins) caters to various preferences. However, one review noted potential issues with planning and on-site direction during events, suggesting that for large events like weddings, hiring a full-service planner is recommended to ensure a smooth experience.

For inquiries or bookings, please contact Bison Peak Lodge at Puma Hills at (719) 257-3632 or mobile phone +1 719-257-3632. Please be aware of the high elevation and take necessary precautions if visiting from a low-lying area.

I photographed a wedding a Bison Peak Lodge this past fall, and it is truly a spectacular property. The sailcloth tent is gorgeous, and the option to have all your friends and family stay on site for a "glamping" weekend is something you can't find a lot of places. However, it isn't the most well run, and my couple had a lot of issues when planning their wedding. When I arrived on site for the wedding weekend, there seemed to be no one from the venue directing anyone or even helping me find where I was staying. There seemed to be a lot of construction happening and the area around the tent wasn't kept up the nicest. Bison Peak has the opportunity to truly become a top luxury venue in Colorado, but it is just not there yet. If you are planning your wedding here, I would definitely recommend hiring a full service planner to help the weekend run smoothly. Would love to photograph another wedding here some day as it is one of the most beautiful venues in Colorado, just hope the owners can iron out a lot of the details that are lacking to be able to give couples and vendors a 10/10 experience.

We visited Bison Peak Lodge for a wedding. We stayed three days and it was the most fun our family has experienced in quite some time. The property is breathtaking. Some guest stayed in the tents, main lodge and cabins. Each location was extremely clean and well thought out. Our cabin provided all the necessities we needed plus more. We had tons of books and board games to choose from. The site map provided trails with a tons of things to do and breathtaking views. Each morning we enjoyed an unforgettable sunrise. Lastly but certainly not the least, I believe the staff were incredible. Very attentive, communicative and so very friendly. They made the stay so comfortable and welcoming. The hospitality is unmatched. So happy we had the opportunity to visit! I definitely recommend. One thing that is important to note, you will be very high in elevation. If you’re visiting from a low lying area like us (Florida), make sure to follow the guidelines on changing altitude and bring prepared. Thankfully, there was portable oxygen on site.

This was my second stay at Bison. The glamping experience was simply amazing. There’s so much to do in the area—I really enjoyed fishing in the local reservoir. The on-site experience is magical from the shooting stars at night to the tall alpines surrounding the property to the abundant wildlife. It is also really nice to be able to go on a short hike up to the top of the mountain. Special thanks to the hardworking staff at Bison who bent over backward to make my stay ever so enjoyable.

This place is gorgeous. The views are stunning. The lodge was very large easily accommodating many people. I did think it was cleanly and well kept. There seemed to be a lot of confusion with the staff though. Confusion whether or not we were allowed to use the kitchen portion of the lodge being that it is an industrial kitchen, at first being told no and then upon arrival being told different. I’m not sure who the bride and groom spoke to but I did call on behalf of the bride the day before arrival to ask a question and the woman I spoke to was in Florida? So that was confusing as well. There were dogs roaming around which belonged to the owners of the lodge I guess? The dogs were nice and calm but being that I had my two year old daughter with us it took my attention away from the weekend making sure that she wasn’t pestering these dogs and them having a negative reaction. There were specific members of the staff who were amazing and incredibly accommodating, however if that one gentleman had not have been there I’m not sure how things would have gone. I was one of the last people in the wedding tent that night and my husband and I did most of the clean up with my brother in law. Being that this was a wedding it would have been nice to see a cleaning crew or something assigned to this aside from the friends and family of the bride and groom. Maybe just something to think about in the future adding to your “wedding package” because it felt like it took away from time with family.

Located in a stunning area of Colorado, Bison Peak Lodge has the potential to be an excellent experience. However, the wedding I attended recently was full of issues. Restrooms are located far from wedding/reception area and difficult for elderly guests to access, yet the wedding area and reception tent were located close to the septic tank, judging by the smell that frequently wafted over the festivities. There was a golf cart to help accommodate elderly or ambulatory-challenged guests, but there was not enough staff present to run it efficiently. The bride and groom were inundated with hidden fees and up-charged for basic wedding services, and approached approximately 2 weeks before the ceremony with a contract stating they were not allowed to leave a negative review. The owners called the Park County Sheriff to babysit the entire wedding, possibly fearful that the party was not responsible enough to designate sober drivers after the celebration. The Sheriff's arrival created quite a stir among the guests and distracted from the ceremony. It was apparent that the owners are not in touch with rural Colorado and are bringing big-city values and ideals to the area. The adolescent moose patrolling the grounds was an amazing experience; one that I won't forget. The caretaker mentioned that the moose is a regular guest. Perhaps visitors should be warned and educated to give the animal a wide berth. Moose are more dangerous than bears; ask any Alaskan. Overall: the venue and facilities are beautiful and the limited staff was friendly, but based on the way my friends were treated by the owners, I would not recommend attempting a wedding. The Bison Peak Lodge is probably best suited for a small gathering or an overnight stay with your romantic partner. Be prepared for hidden/unexpected charges; the owners seem to want a dollar for every breath taken on the property. I will never go back because I will not support unethical business practices.

A remote glamping experience. Food generally pretty good. Could have used fruit at breakfast to complete the meal. Also ran out of coffee and hot water often and had to wait for more. Our tent floor was gravel. The pictures on the internet did not depict that the floors were gravel. The tent needed a mirror, a chair or couch and a place to hang clothes. When you’re coming to a wedding you need a place to hang clothes. The bath house at the lodge was clean and looked new! The trailer bathrooms were sufficient but water is not drinkable so you need fresh water to brush your teeth. Beautiful setting in the mountains for a wedding! Don’t forget the bug spray!
