Black Butte Lake is beautiful! It's serene and peaceful. So many birds are flying around! We saw great horned owls! So cool! We hiked up to the top of the butte and the views were amazing!
The bathrooms were in poor condition, but the sites were pretty maintained and have some good views of the resevoir. There are also rattlesnakes at the campground and toads, black widows and other bugs come out at night.
Tons of swimming spots, shade, the campgrounds are great and have nearby restrooms. There is an overlook point, fishing and swimming spots. The 'free' side is a long, twisty and bumpy dirt road that leads right up to the water in different areas of the lake. Absolutely beautiful during the spring season! I absolutely ove it. Around summer time it is pretty dry and can be crowded at times. All in all, it's a nice little lake to relax or camp at.
It is beautiful this time of year. I was surprised that there were only three other cars there. The ticket machine for parking wasn't working and the restrooms weren't really clean but the lake was beautiful.
Beautiful, serene and great fishing!! The water temp was perfect too! Pretty primitive as well. Will definitely be a new favorite spot!!
