Do not stay here. Rooms are dated, furnace makes horribly loud noise that sounds like gun fire. The shower had warm water NOT hot. We called front desk to be moved to another room but because of the of the lack of hot water we asked for the room we were being relocated to to be checked first. It was inspected and we were told it also had only warm not hot water as well. On sundays do not expect the continental breakfast to be opened on time or the office for that matter. The worst was the gas smell and then when I look for a Fire alarm or C02 detector it’s covered with tape. There is a coffee maker in room but no filter or supplies. The microwave Wasthere primarily as decor, not for functional purpose. Just don’t you WILL regret it. I did.
Didn’t believe the reviews of staff being rude until today when i tried to switch my reservation due to a site mix up, PAUL’s feelings were hurt. PAUL needs to learn to not let his pride lead and to not hang up the phone before losing more loyal customers. Been here a handful of times in the past year but thanks to the unnecessary rudeness, and him saying “yeah we actually don’t need you” (to book the reservation NEXT week) We’re just going to book elsewhere.
The new owners of this place are transforming it into a must stay place. We stayed in one of the cabins and we're very happy and comfortable. We enjoyed meeting the owners and staff and their enthusiasm and kindness make it very successful. We will definitely be back!
Disappointing Stay at Black Forest Lodge. I had high hopes for this place, but unfortunately, our stay at Black Forest Lodge was disappointing. The rooms were extremely dated and had a weird smell that made it uncomfortable to relax. The walls were paper-thin—we could hear every conversation from the adjacent rooms, and our upstairs neighbors walking around kept us up all night. To make matters worse, the front desk attendant was incredibly dismissive and unfriendly. When we checked in, he didn’t even bother to welcome us, which set a bad tone for the entire stay. His attitude made us feel unwelcome, and the overall lack of hospitality was very disappointing. There is an advertised “Free Breakfast” but all it really contains is old coffee or miscellaneous tea packets. If you’re looking for a relaxing and enjoyable stay in Big Bear, I’d recommend looking elsewhere. This place is not worth the trouble or cheaper pricing.
First night of our 3 night stay. No real complaints. I will say though, bed is a little lumpy, wall are thin (you can hear your neighbors), but there is a nice fireplace. I'm a bit of a shower snob, and these are not good. Gets the job though. I'd stay here again, it pretty much comes down to price.
