This is a great spot by the river. I met the owners who told us they recently did a huge renovation and cleaned up a lot of trash. The place is well-maintained, and the staff is very friendly and helpful! Rockford doesn't have much going on, but there's some beautiful hiking around this campground.
I'm rating this a 5 based on our RV stay. What a nice campground, surrounded by lots of shaded trees, with the Kishwaukee River in the back. Extremely friendly and helpful management, who cooked a great meal for everyone on Saturday! Lots to do for the kids: playground, miniature golf, basketball and volleyball courts, and frisbee golf! Internet isn't the best, but doable. Sites are gravel and level. Space between sites can feel a little tight in the back, but very open in the front. We've definitely stayed in much tighter spaces. We will definitely come back to Blackhawk!
Amazing site with VERY friendly staff. They were so flexible with us at checkout during a storm. We stayed twice and had great experiences both times. Rockford isn't that great, but it's so close to Chicago and Madison, making it a great stay!
This is now a membership-only campground. While it's in a great location, there's not a lot to do...yet. They say they will be adding a lot in 2025. At this point, it's not a worthwhile option for us to join the membership.
My wife and I came up for a free weekend. Daisia (Day) was our tour guide. She was fantastic. All the staff is very nice and helpful. Day answered all our questions and had a great sense of humor. The campground is very clean, and the scenery is beautiful! We really enjoyed the weekend and look forward to many more visits!
