Another wonderful free dispersed camping area on BLM land. There are campsites all the way down the gravel road and more campsites on roads off of the main road. The gravel is bumpy, but it is definitely 2wd low clearance friendly. There were probably about 50 other campers there when I went, but there is so much room that no one is anywhere next to the other unless they want to be. It seems like most of the people camping are near the start of the road or the end. I found a great place on the left with a huge canyon to explore behind my campsite. There are some cool rocks to be found in the washes and outcroppings and some pretty neat places to explore. Very peaceful, clean, and yes .. 100% free .. no registration, no host, no hassle.
Just a few miles from Parker, AZ with grocery, hardware, dollar and other stores. Almost empty before first of year but slowly getting more and more campers in middle of January. Roads are manageable by any vehicle of any size.
Except for a hard-to-spot turn off Highway 62, this is an easy place to camp for free. Spots available with loads of space between rigs. We had no trouble getting a spot with our 37-foot motorhome and Jeep toad. At night you can see the lights from Parker, Arizona. Walmart Supercenter in Parker has most supplies, but we're out of RV toilet paper when we went. But the camping here is 14-day with no sevices...pack it in, pack it out.
I have camped here many times. My first experience was in October of 2021. I've had a very pleasant experience experience every time. I am here now, February 4, 2024. I like the peacefulness and the proximity to town. A 15-mile round trip, and you're done. There is a water kiosk in Big River as well as in Parker. I notice this area is getting more and more popular but... the area can easily accommodate ten times the number of rigs I've seen. Beautiful sun rises and amazing sunsets. Good weather for winter camping. I may come back again and again.
Good spots, good space in between campsites, quiet, good views of the scenery. Close to Parker,Az that has alot of services.
Great area for boondockers. A little windy when stayed there in April (2025). Big Rig friendly!
Loved it here. You aren't alone but you can have your own camp spot. Nice flat spots too!
