Nice state park. Only 30 amp power at some of the camp sites aka enough to run 1 ac on a hot day, which is fine to me. Of course they have 15 amp for tent campers too. Not all sites are big enough for a bigger rig. Our 5th wheel trailer is 33 ft long and we had no problems getting into site 39. Sites 6 and 11 would also be good for bigger rigs (those are just the ones that stuck in my mind). Make sure to fill your tank with potable water next to the dump station (it has non-potable water). And yes, we saw somebody trying to fill their tanks with non-potable water!!!! The sites are nicely separated by greenery. Amazingly we had decent reception with our starlink satelite dish - enough to use the internet and stream TV. The rest rooms are basic and the one shower house had 3 showers + flushing toilet - not the newest, but fairly clean and the water was nice and warm, had good pressure and there was a locable door in each stall with plenty of hooks. Be aware the fee for out off state tagged vehicles is $3 higher per night at $33 for the electric sites, there is a $ 7.95 reservation fee. Plus every vehicle has to have either a Daily Vehicle Pass ($8 or $11, again depending on the tags) or an anual Vehicle State Park Pass ($28 for residents and $38 for out off state tagged vehicles). So 4 nights of camping here cost us $132 in camping fees, $7.95 reservation fee plus the anual Pass $38 adding up to $177.95 aka $44.49 per night, which is pretty high considering there is only 30 amp and no water at the site!!! The pool costs extra and if you like to ride your bike on the trails here there is $5 State Trail Pass per day or anual @ $25 to buy (same rate for everyone).... I love hike and the trails are wonderfully maintained. The park is a gem - just a tad overpriced.... PS we bought the Anual Vehicle Pass since our son lives near Janesville and we plan on exploring more of Wisconsin until we leave for the winter....
Wisconsin state parks are really nice and this one is now are favorite (until the next new one). Very extensive and nice trails, 2 overlook towers and a really nice looking swimming pool area. Music in the park on Saturdays is nice too. Definitely one of the quietest parks ever. Hope to get back here for some fall colors.
Amazing Place!! Highly rated for any weekend or week long vacations. Very kid friendly! Pool was amazing clean facility and super fun splashpad for the kids. Lots of shaded areas and lounge chairs. The Campground is top notch. The sites are fairly rustic and each site is mostly private with little site lines to the next site in summer. Bathrooms were very clean and well taken care of - shower water was warm. There is many jungle gym areas for kids. Best one is up top of the Mound. There is two spectacular towers to climb on the top- one that is perfect for sunrise views - the other for sunset. Mtb and hiking trails are amazing. Perfect for anyone looking for challenging technical trails. Definitely recomend a front shock or full duspension bike with good climbing gears. The MTB trails are not super beginner friendly. But the Gniesse trail will reward the newer riders with flow and technical rocky sections that can be ridden easily with a little confidence. The road riding in this area has miles of Horribly Hilly roads to enjoy! There is place to get convenience items an ice cream at the end of the road from the park. And cave of the Mounds is a nearby tourist area. We loved our stay and will definitely be back!
I love this place! You have everything you need here. The campsite is large, with just the right amount of shade and sun, you have privacy and tranquility there. The showers are always clean, there is a swimming pool and a playground for children
Well cared for state park. The views from the towers were breathtaking. The trails are well maintained and a bit challenging. And the swimming pool a big plus. Close to other attractions cave of the mounds and Mount Horeb.
