Very cute campground with beautiful spots right off the creek that make you feel like you are deeper into nature than you are. You can hear a bit of road noise, and the flush toilets bathroom is a little scary. The vault toilets were well maintained though. No cell service with any carriers. Close to hot springs, salt creek falls, and many other hiking opportunities.

Pretty run down, only accepts cash for the day use pass so come prepared. No easy water access and the trails are sketchy. We visited the immediate day use area only. The camping is tent only and very few had picnic tables or BBQ grills. There was a massive rock cooking thing with a tiny pit and sheet metal top... Not sure what you'd do with that. It's an odd little area. We only spent the free allowable 30 minutes there because we didn't have cash. The camp host checked our vehicle multiple times in that short amount of time as well. We just wanted some time in the woods and water, instead we were made to feel uncomfortable and a bit harassed. The passive aggressive behavior of the camp host and his need to make sure he got his 9 bucks was too much. I was happy to pay, I didn't even think to bring cash. We went to McCredie instead and had a great time.

First a foremost, I want to let others know that this is not the Blue Pool! Several people came by while we were camping, trying to find it. It doesn't help that several others have posted pictures of the Blue Pool on this campgrounds page. The actual blue pool is several hours away. Secondly, the site was nice. However, a bathroom when you first enter the site is heavily graffitied and vandalized. It wasn't in working condition. There is graffiti all through the campsite. The campground host wasn't present the day and night I was there. They had a chain around their front door and a boot on their golf cart. This was a telling sign that the site may not be secure. Overall, it's a beautiful site. People are trashing it, though. Lastly, it is right by the road so there is road traffic and also train noise.

Blue Pool is a fantastic, deep swimming hole in a gorge on Freestone Creek, and one of the most popular spots in the state forest on a hot day. After your swim, you can walk a couple of hundred metres to a lookout over the creek, or stroll through a cheery fern gully. Blue Pool is 10 km north of Briagolong off Freestone Creek Rd. Note: this is the only campground in the forest that has a toilet.
