Conveniently located just minutes from downtown Blue ridge, shopping, hiking, and the lake. The campground borders a beautiful river and has a walkway to the river where you can fish. With a cute pool and playground and other amenities such as horseshoes etc, and a nice dog park. The bathhouses are clean and well maintained. Laundry is also available. Camping sites are mostly very level and come with a picnic table and fire ring. Upgraded sites even have lounge chairs around the fire pit. Cute little cabins are available as well with the fire ring etc.
Very quiet and new looking campground. It has all of the amenities you could want and is easy to get to. Friendly staff. No view, but a good stepping off point for local wineries and attractions.
At the KOA Blue Ridge Toccoa River, the Owners clearly prioritize confirmation emails over customer service, so you’ll readily find “More Rules Than Amenities” might be a fitting slogan. Not an exceptionally pleasant check-in and the park is basic; aside from the river, there is not nature to appreciate here at all. Prepare to get nickeled and dimed, a lot of basic support items have a fee attached - basically the Ryan Air of campgrounds. We rented a cabin, not a site, so our expectations may be different than yours, but I would certainly recommend you pay attention to the patterns of the bad reviews as they’re fairly accurate. The cabins have a full kitchen which is great, though there is almost no interior prep space so prepare to make use of every flat object in the place. Utensils, plates? Not really - the cabin offers some cookware but the rest is just plastic silverware and some paper plates and cups. If you’re using the bathroom with the lights on, the neighbors can see your silhouette so just be discreet I guess. Wifi is worthless so bring a hotspot and prepare to burn data. You’re better off renting an RV and boondocking on the side of the highway, because, besides the gate, that’s all this place really offers to begin with. TL:DR: Don’t worry about anything, the Owners have Staff whipped into shape and well-scripted to remind you of the the rules if you might have missed the emails, but the bathrooms are nice.
I made a reservation and paid for a campsite in advance for a girls camping trip. We drove over 15 hours in rain to get to this KOA to be safe and relax for the night. There were accidents on the road that took us longer to arrive during office hours. I called and checked in partially over the phone and explained our situation. We got there after the office closed and ringed the bell to meet with the camp hosts. They were nice at first. Finally after a long day we were set up and trying to start a fire with the wet firewood they sold us for $9.00 a bundle. Then they asked us if we had a tent. I said no, we are SUV camping. People can van camp though? They strictly said there is no car camping. I said can you tell me why? They had no answer. I said we are 2 girls traveling alone and it makes us feel safer to sleep in an suv. Then the camp hosts said you can go buy and tent, set it up and sleep in your car. After many long hours we are forced to go to a Walmart to buy a $70 tent to set up in the dark and rain and pretend to sleep in it?? We got back and the gates were closed. We couldn't even get a refund. How can discretion not be used in a situation like this. We are not squatters, but people who made reservations in advance that paid and tried to do the right thing. Shame on you. The rest of our trip was at state parks where we were welcomed and felt much safer. I will never stay at a KOA again or reccomend it to someone else.
This is an outstanding campground. The people who work there are amazing. Thanks especially to Steve who was always so helpful. Spaces are large. Beautiful views. Close the everything. The place is spotless. Great laundry facility. Stayed for over 2 weeks and loved every minute.
