Blueberry Hill Campsite Introduce
For dedicated hikers and intrepid backpackers among us Minnesotans, the call of the Superior Hiking Trail (SHT) is a profound one. Spanning over 300 miles along the dramatic North Shore of Lake Superior, the SHT offers unparalleled opportunities for immersion in nature. Among its numerous designated campsites, Blueberry Hill Campsite stands out as a true backcountry gem, perfect for those who seek a more rugged and secluded experience away from the bustling front-country campgrounds. This is not your typical RV park; Blueberry Hill Campsite is designed for the self-sufficient adventurer, offering a primitive yet incredibly rewarding overnight stop on one of Minnesota's most beloved long-distance trails.
Imagine hiking through ancient forests, with glimpses of Lake Superior shimmering through the trees, only to arrive at a secluded clearing where your tent or hammock awaits. Blueberry Hill Campsite provides just that: a tranquil haven where the sounds of nature prevail and the sense of accomplishment from a day's hike is truly felt. While it demands a certain level of preparedness, especially regarding water, the reward is an intimate connection with the Northwoods and a quintessential SHT experience. This article is crafted for local Minnesota hikers, providing essential details about what to expect at Blueberry Hill Campsite and why it's a must-consider stop on your next North Shore backpacking adventure.
Blueberry Hill Campsite is strategically located directly on the Superior Hiking Trail, specifically near Two Harbors, MN 55616, USA. Unlike drive-in campgrounds, this is a backcountry site, meaning it is not accessible by vehicle directly. Its location on the SHT means hikers must trek in, making the journey part of the experience. It is situated approximately 4.95 miles from Gooseberry Falls State Park and is notably along a gorgeous section of the trail accessible from trailheads such as those near Split Rock Lighthouse State Park.
Accessibility to Blueberry Hill Campsite is strictly by foot via the Superior Hiking Trail. Hikers typically begin their journey from designated SHT trailheads, many of which are located off Highway 61, the North Shore Scenic Drive. Popular access points in the vicinity include those near Gooseberry Falls State Park or Split Rock Lighthouse State Park. While the exact distance to the campsite will vary depending on your starting trailhead, it's generally considered a moderate hike. Shuttle services are available along sections of the SHT, which can assist hikers in planning one-way trips to reach campsites like Blueberry Hill. Due to its backcountry nature, cell service in the area can be non-existent or very spotty, which is part of its appeal for those looking to truly disconnect. Hikers should always consult the Superior Hiking Trail Association's maps and guides for the most current information on trail conditions and access points.

Customer Reviews
NO WATER, in dry conditions. It looks like one or two small streams nearby would have water in them if it has rained enough recently. 2 excellent tent pads a third pad next to fire ring. 1 perfect hammock area. Each tent pad and hammock area is like it’s own room. You could probably find or make something work for more hammocks. The hike to the site from Split Rock is gorgeous. Cell service was non existent to very spotty.
You usually have to pack in your water, but has decent tent pads and hammock options.
Water just north not the most trustworthy. Decent tent pads and few good hammock spots.
Nice campsite for a few tents. Small creek nearby, but kind of cloudy.
Good tent pads and generally close water source north from campsite
