This is such a family favorite spot. Finally get to camp overnight with miles of dark sky stars overhead. The over 7000 elevation brings cool to the evening and on our visit there were no bugs to bother us. The campsites are far apart and on a weeknight the small park filled before dark. Yes most of the sites have more slope than you might wish for an RV but so what.
Spot #1 good for truck trailer length of 37 ft. Close to dusty road tho. Some folks do 5mph others 25!! Oblivious
I think this might be my favorite campground in Nevada. It’s certainly the one I visit most frequently (two or three times per year, for the last three years.) It’s conveniently located right off Route 50. It’s high enough (7,200 ft) to be cool at night, and not as hot as the valleys during the day. It’s very small (only ten sites) but the sites are spacious, with mature Pinyon, Juniper, and Sage as the main greenery. The campsite Pinyons are trimmed to provide shade. Each site has a parking area, a tent area, a metal table, fire pit, and grill. The whole place is very clean, and very quiet. I’ve never been here when the campground was full, and a few times I’ve been the only one here. For whatever reason, I’ve never seen a family here - mostly singles, and usually older. Yes, you can hear traffic on Route 50 during the day, but is faint and infrequent. As other folks have mentioned, there are bathrooms and water taps. No trash collection and no dump station. There are walking trails in the hills on both sides of the road.
This is a small campground in the mountains above Austin. They have flush toilets and water. The sites are well spread out and ours had a great view. A few are large enough for a 30' plus trailer but many sites are not level which can make it tricky for RVs and tenters alike. The Pinyon pine/Sagebrush area is quite lovely. Some reviewers complained about traffic noise from Hwy 50 but it wasn't bad, after all, it is the loneliest road in America!
Great place. We parked our 32 ft motorhome here easily. On Highway 50 but quiet since there is little traffic. Flush toilets. No water or dump. Beautiful views. Next to some great hiking. Seven miles from Austin. We ate at Silver State Saloon. It was nice. Had some good pizza. A couple of places were pretty gross looking. You will know when you see them!
Great campground. Not many spots but separated nicely. Flushing toilet. 1 for men 1 for women. NO running water. Firepits, nice tables. Clean. Felt safe. Lots of hwy noise.
