Bobcat Crossing Campground Introduce

🏕 **Introduction / Overview**

For Oklahoma adventurers looking to immerse themselves in the history and rugged beauty of the San Bois Mountains, **Bobcat Crossing Campground** serves as an essential and highly-rated base camp. This beautiful campsite is nestled within the legendary **Robbers Cave State Park** near Wilburton, a sprawling park famous as a former hideout for outlaws like Jesse James and Belle Starr. Unlike some of the park's larger, more amenity-focused areas, Bobcat Crossing is often praised for its picturesque, wooded setting and its proximity to the core natural attractions, making it feel perfectly integrated into the forest landscape.

Bobcat Crossing is known for providing a traditional, quality camping experience. Campers consistently note the **beautiful scenery**, the ample shade from the surrounding woods, and the convenience of having **firewood readily available** (or for sale nearby). It is part of the larger network of Robbers Cave State Park campgrounds, which collectively offer accommodation ranging from primitive tent sites to full hookups, cabins, and yurts. Bobcat Crossing itself leans towards a balance of essential comfort—featuring hot showers and clean restrooms—while maintaining that sought-after "close-to-everything" feel for exploring the park's miles of trails, lakes, and, of course, the famous caves.

Bobcat Crossing Campground is situated deep within the boundaries of **Robbers Cave State Park**, which is located approximately five miles north of **Wilburton, OK 74578, USA** off Oklahoma Highway 2. The park's well-developed road system ensures that Bobcat Crossing, while feeling secluded and wooded, is easily accessible to all vehicle types, from motorbikes and passenger cars to **RVs, camper trailers, caravans, and big rigs**.

Its primary accessibility feature is its location within the park, which places it **"close to everything we wanted to do."** Campers can quickly reach the main recreational hub—including the Nature Center, the famous caves, and the start of many hiking trails (like the Coon Ridge Trail and the CCC Trail)—all while enjoying a campsite nestled away from the main day-use traffic. This location is particularly ideal for those utilizing the **extensive trail system** for hiking, mountain biking, or even exploring the ATV/ORV area of the park. Great camp ground with great facilities and good for large groups. We had over 20 tents set up in this area. Facilities include a large shelter with tables, toilets and sinks and showers (including ADA showers). Only criticism (and it's small) is that the facilities should be closer to the group camp and not the hook up area.
