You will see wilderness here! You will be out in the wilderness. Upon arriving a spotted a bald eagle 🦅 flying to what I think is it's nest northeast of the campground. This campground sits on the bank the Little Truckee River just north of the Boca Resivoir. The campground doesn't have any canopy or shade but make up with location and views. You'll be able to spot lots of geese walking up from the Resivoir in the morning alongside the river. The river is cold but the water is fresh. I was at the north end of the campsite. All campsites seem like they're a good distance from one another. I picked one with some shade but you'll find very little here. They have first come first serve sites so you should have some luck just stopping by and finding a site. I give this campground 5 Stars cause of its wilderness aspect and location to water recreation like boating and fishing. The campground was pretty clean and the restrooms did the job. This is bear country but I didn't spot any bears during my stay. In the evening, again, you might get lucky and have some deer stop by your site to look around. One of the best campgrounds I've ever been to and at first I didn't really care for it because of the dirt and lack of shade. I'm so glad I stayed. Best view and wilderness feel I've felt in a while.
Good inexpensive campground. My last visit was a couple years ago but I remember the camp host was friendly and kind. The downside was some campers partied all night with music blasting and the liquor flowing, the camp host didn't say anything to them so we had to. Can draw a rowdy crowd but definitely a fun campground. There are toilets available and fire wood for sale.
Absolutely beautiful view and clean kept campground as well, camping trip in summer couple years back
This was a great place to camp. Definitely the coldest nights, tho. But hey... The fishing was excellent.
Camp host was very nice and helpful. Lake was full, 7/27/23, short walk to waters edge.
