Very great park!!! Had a wonderful time there. Even on a cloudy day we had a great experience, it was as beautiful as it could be on a sunny day. Recommend to everyone for sure! The main thing is you don't wanna be there on a rainy day, thanks god we had a great timing even on this raining season
Nice quiet campsite, but careful there are a few coyotes, one mom has four Cubs
Went to Brannan Island today for the first time. There was a $10 day use fee. The park offers overnight camping, a boat launch, swimming beach, and additional leisure area toward the back of the park. There were also a number of shaded spots. A little over an hour away from Sacramento it is a great alternative to braving the Bay Area traffic to see the ocean (it's not the ocean, but worth the visit).
Nice campground, friendly staff. Super easy entrance. I took the trail after setting my tent. However cannot help but wonder the reason why people wouldnt feel the need to clean up after their dogs. I would def not recommend this site if i have a dog and i care about him. It is impossible to take a walk on the trail without skipping over some of this. I am embarrassed the way we treat our camspites. My 1 star is to the management who is doing nothing to prevent it.
We visited at the beginning of April. Friday night was not very busy but it was much fuller on Saturday. The actual campsite has pretty long grass that collected dew and stayed wet most of the morning. Not much shade in spot #38 but overall a nice location. Bathrooms were clean but some had non-functioning sinks. Road noise is definitely noticeable but easy to tune out. Less than an hour from Sacramento this is a good choice for a short weekend trip.
