Campsite was beautiful, calming, spacious, and bathrooms were very clean. It just sucked that the water spouts were not available or working, and that our campsite #20 had all the trees chopped down.

This was my first experience camping by myself and breightenbush was everything I had hoped for and more. The camp host, Matt was absolutely amazing. I came in without a reservation because I didn’t know it was required to book ahead of time. He found me a double spot right on the river. He went above and beyond to make sure I had an amazing spot in a safe campground. He even brought me fire wood and checked in in the morning. The spot I was in was secluded enough but knew that I had neighbors on either side. I had my dog with me and the campground was so welcome of her. The campground was amazing. There are trees so it is shaded, but they are spaced enough that you definitely get some sunshine through. The site had the nicest fire pit and two picnic style tables. The ground was covered in little Pineneedles, but it was so soft and comfortable. I’m so excited I found this spot and cannot thank the host enough for everything that he did to ensure I had a good stay for my first time camping by myself!! It was genuinely just the best experience, even though it was only a single. on a sidenote to really make the trip amazing I would highly recommend stopping by Detroit Lake at the upper arm park and swimming for a couple of hours before heading to the campsite!!

A very beautiful campground and area! Most campsites are well spaced apart for privacy and the pit toilets are spotless and well maintained! Kudos to the camp host! He did have firewood bundles for sale, $7 each, but we brought our own. The campground was saved from burning from the wildfires, but the water pump was damaged and the spigots were turned off, no running water except the river, so had to bring our own drinking/ cooking water. The best sites are along the river with path access to the water. They do allow dogs on a leash and all campers kept to the rules and cleaned up after their dogs. We stayed in Site #15, but Site #6, 7 & 8, is our favorites. Great fishing hole at Sites #6 & #7! Will be back again!

Surprised to see so many positive reviews. Stayed here for a couple of nights and it looks like there’s a lot of cleanup work still being done. Stayed at site 20 and it felt like we were camping in a logging area with a bunch of felled trees and piles of brush. Other sites were in similar condition or were super small, with a few decent-looking sites in the mix. There also weren’t bear-proof dumpsters, which seemed weird. The river was nice and the campground atmosphere was quiet and respectful. Latrines were well-kept. Writing this review because I didn’t see any mentions of these things when I booked, thought it might be useful for others. This isn’t a reflection of the host or local forest service as much as a condition statement. The sites at Humbug looked a little bit better if you’re dedicated to camping in this specific area.

Love this place! No cell service, so it's a great place to truly unplug. Sites are spaced far enough apart, so it feels private. There is no running water at this time due to past forest fire. Stayed 4 nights. Fishing is hit and miss.
