A beautiful park featuring an area for kite flying and picnics, del’s lemonade in warm weather, climbable rocks with tide pools, and the nice, salty, cooling ocean breeze. There’s benches overlooking the water, good for relaxing. The shrimp in the tide pools were very silly and cute, as were the snails. My favorite spot to go.

Hands down, one of the best spots to watch the sunset in Newport and it never gets old. If it’s your first time visiting, be sure to start your drive going down Bellevue to Ocean Ave (referred to as Ocean Drive). There’s plenty of areas to picnic, fly kites, go fishing, ride your bikes, watch the sailboats (in the summer, early fall) or just relax and watch the waves. Beware of the goose poop between the parking lot and the water’s edge though. About 15 miles from shore, you can see crane ships, cable layer, firefighting vessels, etc scattered around building a wind turbine farm (if anyone was curious what these vessels were).

Most people drive to Brenton Point but I’ve only been there by kayak. It’s a great trip from Narrow River or Fort Weatherall. It’s always been busy when I’m there. Some people are driving around the point just sightseeing. There are a few parking lots which have never been full while I’m there. There is a kite popup type store and lots of people were flying kites even on this day with little wind. We picked up a couple of frozen limon drinks from a food truck. After paddling here this hit the spot. The public bathrooms have always been clean. But the reason you come to Brenton Point is for the views and it never disappoints. You get a great view of Block Island Sound.

Great place with beach and open park for kite flying picnics. Good place for enjoying a day out with family and friends. Onsite washroom are available near building. Parking is limited we visited on sunday and parking lot were almost full. There are a couple of spots before the park for roadside parking and a family picnic.

A perfect spot in Newport to watch the sunset and enjoy the sound of the waves. There is plenty of room to enjoy. Our dog loves to play fetch in the large field while we wait for the sunset. There’s good markings for bikes too. Plenty of parking. Make sure to visit if you come to Newport!
