Bretz Campground is a part of the Blue Canyon Mountains near Tollhouse and Shaver Lake, CA. It's a beautiful drive from Trimmer Springs Rd behind Pine Flat Dam take Big Creek Rd at the first green bridge, but the road is gravel/sand. It's easier to drive to Hwy 168 CA and turn right on Tollhouse Rd at the (Tollhouse lookout).
Very quiet . Very clean restrooms . Plenty of fire wood clean camp sights
A bit of a drive to get through, but this campground is wonderful. It's very well maintained, has benches, toilets and fire rings, and sits right next to Big Creek. Blue Canyon Work Center sits just a little to the North of it, though it's mostly out of view, so help is never too far away. This area is a funny mixture between remote and note, as it's not crazy hard to get to, it just takes a bit of effort and patience. There are plenty of trees to provide shade and overall, the campground is clean.
Our church has a yearly event where the men and boys go up and camp overnight. This campsite is always very well maintained, with plenty of locations to choose from. Big Creek runs alongside the camp, so fishing is not a struggle to find. They have well maintained outhouses as well
