Brevort Lake Campground Introduce

Welcome to Brevort Lake Campground, located at N 4149 Brevort Camp Rd, St. Ignace, MI 49781. As a part of the Campgrounds & RV Parks category, this campground offers a beautiful lakeside camping experience with natural scenery and access to recreational activities.

Brevort Lake Campground is known for its scenic views and reasonably private campsites. The campground is divided into two sections, providing a decent walking area, which is ideal for dog walks. There are also first-come, first-served sites available, offering flexibility for those who prefer not to reserve online.

The campground features two distinct loops: the "north loop" offers sites either directly at the water's edge or behind brush leading to the water, while the "west loop" provides sites with great lake views and others with a woodsy feel. Visitors have noted that the lake itself has a weedy shoreline in some areas.

While the campground is generally well-maintained, some maintenance is needed, such as the repair of a broken dock. However, the campground's cleanliness and the helpfulness of the hosts are frequently praised. The campground is also situated along the multi-state North Country Trail, offering opportunities for hiking and exploring.

Recent changes have affected some amenities, including the unavailability of canoe, kayak, and stand-up paddleboard rentals, which were previously advertised. The fishing pier is also currently unusable and in disrepair. It has been noted that the concessionaire has changed recently, and future improvements are hoped for. Recommendations include bringing back amenities such as firewood, ice, and watercraft rentals.

Despite these changes, Brevort Lake Campground remains a beautiful and quiet location, ideal for families and individuals seeking a peaceful camping experience. The campground offers clean facilities, friendly hosts, and ample space for children to play, particularly on the east side of the peninsula.

Decent campground, most sites reasonably private. Watch out if using recreation.gov, as with some campgrounds the sites are not posted correctly on their map. I reserved site 25 and found out after I got there it was in the middle of the loop, not on the lake side as recreation.gov showed. I was very happy the camp host helped me change sites after one night. The campground itself is great - two sections of sites, and a decent walk between them which made a great dog walk. There are some great first come-first served sites if you don't reserve online. I was there midweek August and there were always a couple of sites available. The "north loop" has the edge sites either at the water, or behind some brush that is at the water. The second site we were at had a boardwalk through the brush down to the water. The lake itself had a weedy shore right there. The "west loop" as some sites on the south edge of the lake, with great views out into the lake. But the sites across the campground road there have a decent forest behind them, very woodsy feeling. Still some room between sites. I would probably stay in one of these sites if I go back. Some maintenance is needed - one of the docks was broken and unusable, taped off with caution tape. But the campground itself is well kept up, and sits along the multi-state North Country Trail. It's what you would expect for an Upper Peninsula campground. There were amazingly very few bugs this year.

Such a beautiful lake and campground. My family has been enjoying it for several years. As others have mentioned, the campground/bathrooms are clean, hosts are great, and it's quiet. Sites along the east side of the peninsula get beach access/lots of room for kids to run around. A couple of things have happened over the years that have degraded our camping experience from amazing to still really good but with serious disappointments: 1) The fishing pier got disconnected from land a few years ago and has been in disrepair. No one is able to use it, though the platform part is great for fishing. 2) The National Forest website says that canoe, kayak, and stand up paddleboards are available for rent from the concessionaire, but that's not true. While I would love for this service to be brought back, it was super sad to have counted on it because of the website description, show up with my kids who were looking forward to this, and find nothing there anymore. We don't own watercraft, and it was such a disappointment! Between this and the fishing pier off limits, it was a real damper on our recent trip. I know this year is a rebuilding year with a new concessionaire, and the campground host Brian was super helpful. My recommendation would be to update the website so that it's honest and work towards some basic amenities onsite, perhaps in this order of priority: 1) firewood, 2) ice, 3) canoe & kayak rental, 4) putt-putt golf, 5) ice cream or food (all of these were present before the campground closed down in 2023/2024). Like I said, such a great campground. I hope to continue building memories with our family for years to come.

Beautiful National Forest campground with paved roads and flush toilets. No electric or water hookup but there are plenty of potable water stations in the campground. Nice fishing lake, very shallow swimming area for kids. All in all, a relaxing place to vacation and unwind.

The hubs and I only stayed one night here but will definitely be back. We checked in after midnight after trying to find a place to camp. (Hotels and camps had been filled for the bridge walk). This site placed “open” sites on sites which made it easier for us to find an open spot. In the morning we discovered a path behind camp leading to the lake! We wish we had more time to pull out our kayaks and paddle around the lake. The sites are a little close as I hear my neighbors snoring in the morning but it wasn’t disruptive at all. Park has lots of chipmunks and red squirrels so be mindful while driving in the park as people had been hitting the squirrels with their cars. 🥺 The host was great at in forcing quite hours. The camp across from us had stayed up late (past midnight) and we could hear their conversations. Didn’t bother us much but the host definitely asked them to quite down. We would definitely stop here again on our next trip up north. 💕

Quiet and beautiful. Small remote without any amenities except what nature gives you. There are vault toilets and a natural spring. Fishing wasn’t too bad.
