Good for kids
Great place! It is an amazing recreational area, lots of water, lots of trails, there is even an area out here that you can bring your horses, trail ride during the day and camp at night, there is corrales for your horse. There is a canoeing route right by our site (#1), neat to see. I also felt pretty lucky to find a wild orchid! If you like dragonflies there are tons.
Site is great, and perfect for if you have canoes or kayaks. There are easy access points to the water. However, if you're wanting to swim, this site is not appropriate for that. There are no beaches - it's swampy and very muddy. Walk down the road a bit and use the beach at Apple Point or go a bit further and use the beach at Brewster Lake Campsite. There is only one outhouse for the whole site (Brewster Camp), so when the site is packed and busy, the outhouse is also.....busy. Recently spent time in site #1, and found human feces there.....pretty nasty, but disposed of and cleaned the area.
