We always enjoy this park. We bring our dogs and hit some of the dirt trails through the woods or the paved trail around the lake. On this beautiful day, we brought our lunch and ate at one of the many covered picnic tables. Up by the visitor center, they have planted a beautiful flower garden to attract bees, buttflies, hummingbirds, and something I have never seen before....a hummingbird moth.
Very nice park. Well maintained and clean, the bathrooms are very well kept. Large pavilions with lots of picnic tables and bbq pits. The pavilion we were at overlooked the lake and had a large firepit with seating surrounding it. Very nice place to have a family gathering. The pavilions can be reserved ahead of time. They allow fishing, catch and release only. The lake was a nice size. They offered kayaking, paddleboarding, lots of hiking, biking and equestrian trails. A large playground for the tots, even a dog park for our furbabies.
There is lots to see at this park. The lakes are scenic, and the paved walking paths around them provide an opportunity to enjoy the view and get some exercise. It's a good place to get views of the sky when there are interesting cloud formations. There are also natural-surface trails throughout the park with lots of wildflowers to enjoy. We occasionally stop and look at the agriculture education garden to see what's growing.
Beautiful park with nice walking trails and some large pavilions with grills and fire pits. Also available Kayaks to rent.
Great park!! I enjoy walking the miles of wooded trails. The paved path around the lake is also nice and it's one of the best places around to take in a sunset. Earlier this year a large new playground was added along with paved walkways to adjacent parking lots. Kids can play without getting muddy - even on a rainy day. There are also numerous covered picnic areas and outhouse style restrooms throughout the park.
