We have been visiting the black hills since 2015. During that time we have tried several horse camps. Broken Arrow is our absolute favorite. We just spent the last 14 weeks there. Dan and Vicki are amazing host. They truly went above and beyond for us this year. The camp is so clean and the stalls are comfy for the horses. We love the riding and the friendships we have built at Broken Arrow.

The most friendly, accommodating, helpful informative staff we have ever met! The cleanliness and care for the guest is outstanding! There isn’t anything more we could ask for. From the tent sites, to the cabins, to the rv sites you really can’t go wrong. We have tired them all! And of course the amazing facilities to keep your horse, the round pens and having access to the Black Hills National Forest with never ending trails to explore! It’s easy to say there’s no other place we’d rather be for the summer! Broken Arrow is our home away from home!

Stayed here 4 nights to explore Custer and the surrounding area. Campground was well beyond our expectations. Wish we had horses with us but owner recommended a great guide locally to see us out on the trails via horseback. Campground is well maintained with great customer service. Highly recommend!!

Camp ground is beautiful and well kept. All barns have nice cover for the horses. However, be prepared for dust clouds rolling through the campground all day long from the traffic going by on gravel road. It’s a busy gravel road that goes by the camp. The dust also travels through the barn areas. We left three nights early because of horses coughing and the dust affecting our toddler’s health. Also, if you choose to stay here and ride their trails, I highly recommend shoes all around on the horses. It is very rocky in this area compared to other areas in the Custer area that I have rode in. Or recommend trailering out majority of the time to other trails.

The campground and horse stalls were exceptional!! My horse stall was nice and big! The owners and staff were wonderful. We rented the campground horse trailers 3 different days. It enabled us to ride Mount Rushmore and trails in Custer. The scenery is gorgeous and lots of wildlife.
