Tent camped here for a night while traveling cross-country! The owner was very welcoming and friendly. Far enough from the highway to be quiet, close enough to be a convenient stop. Prices are very reasonable. Only 4 stars because while the bathrooms weren’t the worst in the world, they could’ve been cleaner. To be fair I arrived in the evening & left early in the morning, so someone could’ve just been messy in there between daily cleanings- they do look like they are routinely cleaned. Restrooms are open 24/7 unlike other reviews on here, but they are public bathrooms shared with the city park, so you have to walk over to the ballfields to get to them & expect to see non-campers there during the day.
Small campground several miles off of I-59. I normally make two trips a month of 3 days on the road for each trip. I sleep in the back of my truck. I've slept in many highway rest stops, but my first choice is an electric site that's level and has flush toilets and a hot shower within walking distance of where I park for the night. This little campsite I'm in here at Brookside City Campground hits all the points for only $20, and I didn't even have a reservation. Ehh... What's not to love when you're an old man and not too fussy about accommodations for an evening. I'm putting this place as an option for my route. Thumbs up.
One of our favorite spots! So shaddy and very relaxing! From the trails to tanning on the river bank, we love it there. Great price as well!
I've stayed here in my Camper Trailer. Great place to stay. The Host, Robert is very helpful and friendly. Nice track at the park for running/ walking. Nice Bathhouse, and the Creek is gorgeous. Dog Friendly. Nice playground for the kids. Well Patrolled by Brookside Police. Safe and friendly place.
Well, finding this was not easy. It is out a ways from town. I would have rated it higher except for the train NOISE! The tracks are very close, and some of the engineers seemed to delight in laying on the horn often and for 2 or 3 minutes. Not a restful night for those of us who still have our hearing. We were there during and after downpours so the grounds were pretty muddy. We can't speak about the restrooms because we were only there overnight and it was way too rainy to walk over there when we didn't really need to.
