Brown Tract Pond Campground Introduce
Brown Tract Pond Campground is a hidden gem nestled in the heart of the Adirondacks, offering a peaceful retreat for nature lovers. Located on Browns Tract Rd in Inlet, NY, this campground provides a mix of rustic charm and natural beauty, making it an ideal destination for those seeking a getaway away from the hustle and bustle of daily life.
Known for its stunning views of Brown Tract Pond, the campground offers a variety of camping options, including RV sites and tent spots. The environment is serene, with plenty of privacy between sites and opportunities to enjoy the great outdoors. Guests can expect spacious campsite layouts, allowing for ample room to set up tents or park vehicles.
While the campground has its charm, it is important to note that some amenities are limited. The bathrooms are outdated, and visitors may need to travel to nearby campgrounds like Golden Beach for better facilities. Additionally, the main office hours are minimal, so planning ahead is essential. However, the natural beauty of the area compensates for these limitations.
One of the standout features of Brown Tract Pond Campground is its proximity to outdoor activities. Canoeing on the pond is a popular pastime, and visitors often rent canoes to explore the scenic waterways. The campground also offers opportunities for hiking, fishing, and birdwatching, making it a versatile destination for nature enthusiasts.
Customers have shared mixed feedback about their experiences at Brown Tract Pond Campground. Many highlight the peaceful setting and the ability to connect with nature as major positives. One visitor described hearing loons and enjoying the scenic pond, while another mentioned the spacious sites and ample privacy between campers. However, some visitors have noted issues with outdated facilities and limited enforcement of campground rules.
If you're planning a visit, be sure to bring plenty of bug spray, as mosquitoes can be quite active during the summer months. Additionally, generators should be used responsibly, as noise can impact other guests' experiences.

The campground itself is really beautiful, but it's falling apart and the rangers don't enforce the rules at all. One of the steps down into my campsite disintegrated when I stepped on it, the wood was rotten. The bathrooms are very dated, you have to drive 15 minutes away to Golden Beach Campground to use their showers (free at least), because there are no working ones at this campground. People run their generators outside of the actual time and for far longer than what's in the rules, one day a camper ran it from 9am to about 1:30 and this morning from 7:45am to a little after 9:30am. The rangers did nothing. The booth is also only open for 3 hours a day and the road to the campground desperately needs a proper paving. On the plus side, the sites are spacious and there is a fair amount of privacy between sites. You can hear loons and the pond is very scenic. If you go in summer bring plenty of bug spray, the mosquitoes are huge and plentiful.
One of my favorite campgrounds in the Adirondacks. Take time to rent a canoe…!
Primitive camping at its finest. Caretakers were awesome. Was his name Dodson? They cleaned bathrooms nicely. Love this place
After about a several mile drive down a peaceful dirt road you arrive at the end where this beautiful campground sits. It's so peaceful here with tons of wildlife and one of the most peaceful ponds I've been on. There's a beautiful island in the middle and some wonderfully easy and beautiful hiking trails. The campground overall is very well maintained. It's also very remote so don't expect showers. However the water is very clear and perfect for rinsing off after a hike. during the height of the summer it wasn't even that packed and there aren't that many campground sites compared to other parks. It definitely left here feeling like I would come back many more times and I'm sure I will.
This campground was great. The sites were secluded and some were truly "hike in". Our only issue, other than the bugs, was the lack of level area for our tent (which is only a 10x10). The flattest spot was right next to the fire place. Other than that, the lake was awesome and being able to rent canoes was great.
