Nice area for walking, superb views. If you decide to walk up Ruby Mountain make sure you have good grips on your shoes as it's slippery coming back down. There's a long drop toilet. Take all your trash home with you.

The entrance to the monument is a 3 mile county dirt road that, since it had just rained, was slightly washed in places and some washboarding. There were several trails for hiking and bikes. The mountains in this park resemble piles of boulders bit yet beautiful in their own way. On the way to the monument was an overlook that was similar to a state park about 5 miles north. These mountains are beautiful even with snow clouds over them.

This is an amazing moderate trail with tons of beautiful views and picture opportunities. It is not for the weak at heart, yet available to those willing to make an effort. The rock formations are amazing and one of a kind. It is worth a day trip or a weekend getaway. They may not have showers, that I know of, but the built in bathrooms are clean and well kept. Definately worth a visit!!!

I spent 14 days boondocked in the BLM land near BV. Wonderful location, tons of activities nearby, and a vibrant local community to support with my tourist dollars. Wish I could have stayed longer!

So I traveled a few minutes off the highway to find a boat launch and some RV campgrounds. I suppose the monument is down the river and my National Park passport doesn’t actually acknowledge that it’s a monument at all. With all that said...the views are amazing.
