From major thoroughfares, the routes to Clyde and then to South County Road 278 are generally clear. However, it's important to note the specific characteristics of the campground's immediate environment. As described by visitors, the "park is in the middle of a field." This indicates an open-air setting with expansive views of the surrounding agricultural landscape, typical of many rural areas in Ohio. While this offers clear skies and open spaces, it also means there is "no shade" provided by trees directly on the camping sites. This is a crucial detail for campers to consider, especially during warmer months, as personal shade solutions like awnings or pop-up canopies would be highly recommended. The location offers a straightforward drive for Ohioans looking for a simple camping spot, particularly those who prefer open spaces over wooded environments.

Utility Hookups: Offers water and electricity hookups. However, reviews indicate these services are charged extra, and the layout of utilities (water far back, electric in middle, sewer far front) may require extended hoses or cords, as noted by a customer who stated, "no way to hook up all 3 at the same time."
On-Site Restaurant: Buckeye Acres features an on-site restaurant. Food quality has been highlighted positively, with one reviewer stating the "Food was EXCELLENT, probably the best thing about the park."
Restroom Facilities (Implicit): While not explicitly detailed in recent reviews, standard campgrounds typically provide restroom facilities. Visitors should inquire about their specific nature and condition upon booking.

Open Field Setting: The park's location "in the middle of a field" provides expansive, unobstructed views and clear skies, which can be appealing for stargazing or those who prefer open spaces over wooded areas.

Utility Layout Challenges: The arrangement of utilities (water way back, electric in middle, sewer way to the front) has been a point of frustration for some, requiring longer connections or multiple hook-ups.
Visitor Fee Policy: The policy of charging $2 per visitor, even for family members, and strict parking instructions for visitors, has been a notable point of contention for some guests.

For residents of Ohio considering a camping trip, Buckeye Acres in Clyde offers a particular type of outdoor experience that may appeal to those with specific preferences. Its location "in the middle of a field" provides an open, expansive setting, distinct from wooded campgrounds often found in other parts of the state. This could be particularly suitable for Ohioans who prefer unobstructed views of the sky, enjoy wide-open spaces, or are simply looking for a straightforward RV parking solution without the complexities of dense forest camping.
The on-site restaurant stands out as a significant highlight, with consistently positive feedback on its "EXCELLENT" food. For locals looking for a convenient camping spot that also offers quality dining options right on premises, this could be a major draw. The accessibility of Clyde within Ohio also means that this campground is a relatively easy drive for many residents, making it a viable option for weekend trips without extensive travel.
However, it is important for Ohio locals to carefully consider the specific features and feedback. The "no shade" on sites means campers should come prepared with their own shade solutions, especially during sunny Ohio summers. The noted layout of utilities, requiring potentially longer hoses and cords, is another practical consideration for RV owners. While some guests have found the owner and staff to be "friendly," other experiences indicate that adherence to "petty camp rules" and a strict visitor fee policy might impact the overall enjoyment for those planning to host guests. Ultimately, Buckeye Acres could be a suitable choice for Ohioans prioritizing an open, accessible RV spot with convenient on-site dining, provided they are prepared for the specific site conditions and policies as described by past visitors. It offers a no-frills camping experience where the focus is on a simple stay in the Ohio countryside.

Customer Reviews
Poor customer service. Was promised a site to rent. Refused to rent to us because of technicalities. With all the sites available the owner has only a few spots and charges extra for water and electricity. What a joke. Note these sites had no trees. Camp rules are petty to the point you can not enjoy your trip. Ban this place on your list. Stay clear.
Park is in the middle of a field with no shade. When we were there the grass or weeds were over grown. $40 for a night is high compared to what we paid in many other nicer parks. Owner and staff are friendly, however we had family come over to visit. They charge $2 for each visitor. Girl at the restaurant told us that they could drive there cars back to our lot since we were clear in the back and since there weren't any one else around us. Owner came back in a nasty mood and said are guest were to park way up front by the restaurant and walk back, even though the girl in the restaurant told me it was okay. Food was EXCELLENT, probably the best thing about the park. One final comment, utilities were laid out crazy. Water way to the back, electric in the middle and sewer way to the front, no way to hook up all 3 at the same time.
Great family campground. People are friendly. The owner's family awesome as well.
Doesn't have tent camping like their website says. When I called and asked they responded that they didn't build the site. But as a business owner myself I is my responsibility to make sure my customers get what they expect after reading their website. Poor business model
Very clean and homey atmosphere. Service is always good, very friendly.
