To be upfront, I am from this area, so I am a little biased. But if you are looking for some beautiful country, a beautiful lake setting, and to get away from it all, Buckhorn Lake State Park is a beautiful place to be. The rooms are comfortable enough. Like all the other state parks, the State needs to invest some money in updating things. I've been to all the State parks, and even if I am a little biased, Buckhorn is one of my favorites.
We thoroughly enjoyed our first stay at the lodge room for a mid week escape!! Staff was great and food was good and very reasonably priced. Views and atmosphere were great as they loaded fire pit with wood to enjoy also. If your looking for a smaller park to escape to...this is it!!
The views of the lake from the balcony of my room were beautiful! The room had a retro look, but was very clean! The hiking trails were challenging, but fun to explore! The dining room was clean, and the service was great! The catfish sandwich and hushpuppies were delicious! Every park employee I encountered was friendly and helpful! I would definitely stay here again, check out the beach and play some mini golf!
Cottage was so big , comfortable and quiet. The lodge is beautiful. Breakfast is a little boring/repetitious, but tasty enough Dining options are really nice Can't wait to go again
Such a beautiful place in a gorgeous location, though It needs some attention to detail. The shower wouldn't drain, the microwave was broke in the kitchen down stairs, the breakfast bar really needs changes in the food.
