- Remote Location: The location provides a sense of seclusion and escape from urban areas.
- Scenic Views: The higher elevations offer beautiful views of the surrounding area.
- Rough Access Road: The road leading to the campground is rough and requires careful driving.
- Dusty Conditions: Campers should expect dusty conditions, which can cover gear and vehicles.
- Limited Camping Areas: Large rocks now block areas that were previously accessible for camping, potentially limiting available space.
- Roadside Camping: Due to the terrain, camping is often done along the road.
- Quiet Environment: The higher you ascend, the quieter the environment becomes.
Buckland Flats Campground is ideal for individuals and groups seeking a rustic and remote camping experience. The beautiful views and quiet environment make it a desirable destination for those looking to connect with nature. However, campers should be prepared for challenging road conditions, dusty environments, and limited camping space. The lack of amenities requires campers to be self-sufficient and bring all necessary supplies. It's best for experienced campers who are comfortable with basic camping conditions and rough access roads.

You have to camp on the road. Enormous rocks now block where you used to be able to go. The dust covers all of you and your gear.
Beautiful place to get away. Road is rough but worth it. The higher you go the less you hear. Everything's so much prettier far away
Very secluded not. They call it a campground it’s a wide spot next to the road, plenty of room for half dozen rigs. Apparently years ago it was a nice place had bathrooms and actual numbered camp sites. I’ve been going there for 30 years and it’s never had so much as a garbage can to throw target trash away. I spend 15 minutes picking up target trash every time I come down the mountain and I’m up there a dozen times a month. But it’s still free with beautiful views and for rock hunting or camping it 20 minutes to the city.
I came here yesterday and was absolutely blown away!!! The drive up is about 30 minutes and can be done with any size car (as long as you aren’t pulling something extremely heavy). The drive is gorgeous and so is the campsite itself. Plenty of trees around the area. Lots of areas to camp in the campsite and nearby. There is even a hiking trail in the area too. Great alternative to those who don’t want to go all the way up to Bountiful Peak Campground!
Some people need to learn to clean up after themselves because there was trash everywhere when we got there, but besides that it was an awesome place to camp!
