Trailer Park camping with a nice view. Here’s what it looks like in the winter time. Kinda looks like a paved drive-in movie theater with a great view of the Mississippi river.. before warned the Campground is set between the railroad tracks and the river and the distance between the two of them is about 300 yards….. no winter camping here but the first 11 sites down at Shady Creek 7 miles south is open for winter camping that is of the time of this writing on December 29, 2024 .. Haved stayed here 3 times now. Campground is nice with flat paved roads. Not a lot of leveling involved to set up. Bathrooms are cleaned daily. Campsite is also cleaned daily (picking up sticks, debris etc). Im sitting on the beach right now after labor day weekend and there is no trash on the beach. I'm not sure what those other reviews are crying about. The wood is $3 a bundle...thats cheap. If you dont like the price, go cut down a tree, then split it. $3 is a bargain. There is a shower house/bathroom that is nice. Also 4 porto johnnies in thw campground too.Trains can be a little annoying but they arent that frequent. Maybe 2 a day?? Rangers do a pretty good job of enforcing the rules. Camp host is a nice guy. If you want a beach spot get here by Wednesday. The camp spot sizes vary quite a bit. Some are very large while some are small. If you look at a satellite view you can see. Only reason i didnt give it a 5 is because they dont have water at every site. You have to fill up your tank then unhook from the water. Not a huge deal but to elderly people or people who have mobility problems this may be a deal breaker. Overall a nice place to camp.
10/10/2020: If you want a river front camping spot get there on Wednesday or Thursday. We were in spot 15 and it was perfect! The campground has electricity and water but no sewage or dump station or shower houses due to faulty sewer system. They have put up Porta potty‘s and they are actually clean and not completely disgusting to use. Each campsite has a fire ring as well. Campers are permitted to use the dump stations at Westlake camp ground 10 miles away, or so. They are both run by Scott County. If you forget anything, nearby Blue Grass is a five minute drive and has a wonderful grocery store called Jeff’s Market where they cut their own meat and have a hot food deli case where the chicken smells wonderful. Dollar General is also nearby. We brought our kayaks and got out on the river a couple of times over the weekend. We had some lovely camper neighbors and we are anxious to get back there soon! Don’t miss this little gem!!
Fantastic spot right on the Mississippi river. There is electricity and water to fill your fresh water tank. As of right now there is no dump station. But the sand beach is awesome!!!
This is nice county park right on the Mississippi River. The sites are pretty level and there is plenty of room. The only downside is that they want you fill your water tank and not stay connected to their water. They have low pressure.
