One camper shared, "Loved it, I had phone signal ATT and the place to myself. I would have stayed the max # of days just chillaxing if I did not have a schedule this week. Overall sweet spot."

While some have expressed concerns about the permit system, others appreciate the effort to manage the campground efficiently. As one reviewer noted, "The reservation system confirms all sites booked indefinitely. I've heard hunters do this just to keep away outsiders. In any case, it's a totally dumb broken system."

Loved it, I had phone signal ATT and the place to myself, met a few fishermen that came and went, I would have stayed the max # of days just chillaxing if I did not have a schedule this week. I will stay longer next time. Yes the spaces are very close, but I had no neighbors, the road in a little bumps here and there. Overall sweet 😋 spot

Very weird and confusing. There is a free permit system. I drove by the sites. There were tents in two of them with no people around and 4 unoccupied but all had signs saying they were reserved for 120 days!!!??? The website says Oct 31-March 10th there is no stay limit, so this is possible, but it also says unoccupied sites will be cancelled. The reservation system confirms all sites booked indefinitely. Ive heard hunters do this just to keep away outsiders. In any case it's a totally dumb broken system. Ive seen this at other free FWC managed sites in other areas of Florida. And been ticketed for camping in a totally empty campground because I was unable to obtain a permit because losers booked out all the sites! Punish them, not me! The officer said well if someone does show up they are going to get mad at you and call us. Just get rid of the permits and make it first come first serve.

The East River flows right by here. There's a nice dock to sit on or launch a small boat from, like a john boat. There's good spots for RVs or tents, and it's free. You have to make a reservation with the FWC, but it's easy online. We were the only RV here, and there was a tent on the other side of a tree and palmetto patch, but no one was there, at least we never saw them. Being by ourselves was nice, because we could run our generator whenever we wanted. The temperature was nice, 61-70° highs there.

If you want out of the way, with very little space to spread out. This one's for you. Only 7 sites, crammed into a small space all on the river. Exactly what we were looking for.
