Cal-Cheak Recreation Site Introduce

Looking for a budget-friendly camping option near the popular Whistler Village? Consider Cal-Cheak Recreation Site, located in Cal Cheak, Whistler, BC V0N 1B1, Canada. As a listing in the Campgrounds & RV Parks category, this site offers a natural camping experience just a short 15-minute drive from Whistler Village.

Cal-Cheak Recreation Site operates on a first-come, first-served basis for its drive-in campsites, so it's advisable to arrive early to secure a spot. The cost is $13 per night, payable via self-registration. The basic campground facilities include picnic tables and pit toilets.

It's important to note that potable water is not provided at the campground. However, one reviewer mentioned the possibility of accessing water from the nearby river, which was a short walk from their site, and even used it for a makeshift shower. This suggests potential access to a natural water source, though treatment would be necessary for drinking.

One of the appealing features of Cal-Cheak Recreation Site is its proximity to numerous great trails and waterfalls, offering ample opportunities for exploration and outdoor activities in the surrounding area. The creek-side location of some sites is also a noted positive aspect, providing a pleasant natural environment.

However, it's worth considering some maintenance concerns raised by a recent visitor. The access drive was reported to have many deep potholes, potentially causing issues for vehicles and campers entering and leaving the site. Additionally, the outhouses were described as not clean and lacking toilet paper.

In summary, Cal-Cheak Recreation Site offers an affordable camping option close to Whistler with creek-side spots and access to natural attractions. However, potential visitors should be prepared for basic amenities, the first-come-first-served system, the lack of provided water, and the reported maintenance issues with the access road and restrooms.

Awesome campground just 15 minutes drive from Whistler Village. It is a first come first served drive-in campsite, so be sure to arrive early for a spot. Cost is $13 dollars per night (self-registration). Campground facilities include picnic tables and pit toilets. There is no water but you could get water from the river (20 seconds walk from my site), I kinda took a "shower" in the river and it was awesome. Many great trails and waterfalls near the area, have fun exploring!

Site has horrible maintenance. The drive had many pot holes that were deep enough to do serious damage to vehicles and campers. It was a real pain trying to get in and out of there. Out houses here not clean or loaded with toilet paper. That being said, we did enjoy a nice site along the creek.

Camp site not kept. Ruts in the road big enough to do serious damage to vehicles or campers. It was a real pain getting in and out of the campground. Outhouses not serviced with toilet paper. We did enjoy our spot, but wish campground was better taken care of since they require payment to stay.

Very affordable campground in the forest w/ place for RVs and tents on separate section. Rangers very friendly and making sure all is clean. In case it is full overflow is available. Great starting point for river hikes.
