It's a great place to bring the kids. Nice scenery situated in the densely covered woods of the Appalachian mountains. Great for cooling off in the hot summer. Have a dip in the river go hiking and have a barbecue.
If you are looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of life for an hour or for a couple of days Calendonia State park is a great place to go. It is a beautiful place to go camping, hiking or just to have a picnic and play in the water. Our family really enjoys spending time there.
Beautiful state park with accessible hiking trails dominated by Eastern Hemlock, Rhodadendron and Mountain Laurel. Public pool and we'll maintained camping and picnic/BBQ areas.
Spent a long weekend here camping in the Hosack Run area. Had a great time. Plenty of trails to explore and the pool in the day use area was clean and was a great relief on several hot days. The only reason this isn't 5 stars is because our site was much closer together than anticipated. Typically, we stay at State parks because there is more distance between sites. We had site 153, which ended up working well for our little RPod 190, but some sites in that middle area would not work well, especially 152, for a 20ft trailer. In fact, during our stay, someone drove in and was unable to use the site and luckily, they were able to be reassigned. In this middle section (which is closer to the bath house if you need that) is pretty stacked close together. However, these are the sites that have water, electric, AND sewer. So it's a trade off, I guess. I would definitely stay again. Great price, great park.
