Calf Creek Campground

Nestled in the scenic beauty of Boulder, Utah, Calf Creek Campground is a delightful surprise for those lucky enough to discover it. This quaint and somewhat hidden campground may be easy to miss, but it is definitely worth the search for a peaceful retreat in nature. One of the most charming features of this campground is the small stream that gently meanders through it. The soothing sound of flowing water adds to the serene ambiance, making it an ideal spot for relaxation and unwinding after a day of exploring the surrounding areas. I visited Calf Creek Campground during autumn, and the experience was nothing short of magical. The trees were adorned in vibrant fall colors, creating a picturesque setting that felt straight out of a painting. The crisp, cool air and the rustling of leaves underfoot added to the autumnal charm. The campground itself is quite small, so securing a spot can feel like striking gold. It offers basic amenities, ensuring a comfortable stay while maintaining a rustic feel. The campsites are well-spaced, providing a good balance of privacy and community. It's a perfect spot for both solo travelers and families looking for a quiet getaway. For those keen on outdoor activities, the campground is an excellent base for exploring nearby trails and natural attractions. Hiking, bird watching, and enjoying the natural beauty of the area are just a few of the activities you can indulge in. A couple of tips for future visitors: Make sure to arrive early or book in advance, if possible, due to the limited number of spots. Also, as the campground is in a more remote location, it’s wise to come prepared with sufficient supplies, especially if you plan to stay for a few days.

This is a tiny campground (13 sites) that also hosts the trailhead to the popular lower calf creek falls. It has a true bathroom, potable water (April-October I believe), fire pits, and a pit toilet. The only drawback was the constant stream of people passing the campsite to get to the trailhead. I don’t think I’d stay here multiple days, due to how busy it is, but the hike was stunning and the campsite made it that much easier to complete!

Really nice campground. Camp site 9 was the best. In your own little cove and a trail down to the river. Walk down the River a little bit and enjoy the waiting pool.

Tougher hike than Utah's website led us to believe but making it to the Lower Calf Creek Falls was amazing! 88°air temp made the water feel like it was 50°! Scenery along the way was beautiful!

5 star camping if you can get a site. We camped with a small tear-drop trailer and while it was too hot to comfortably sleep the first night, the location and the experience was fantastic. We hiked up the canyon to the falls and yes, it was just as far and hot and sandy and tiring as I remember from years ago. But so worth it at the end with the cool water and beautiful waterfalls.
