For us Californians, California Hot Springs Resort presents an exceptionally suitable and appealing destination that perfectly aligns with our desire for accessible outdoor experiences combined with unique amenities. It offers a distinct advantage for those seeking a true escape without having to cross state lines.
Firstly, the presence of natural hot spring pools is a significant draw. We Californians appreciate wellness and relaxation, and the opportunity to soak in therapeutic mineral waters after a day of travel or outdoor activity is a luxurious touch that elevates this campground far beyond a typical camping spot. The varying temperatures of the pools cater to individual preferences, ensuring everyone finds their perfect soaking experience.
Secondly, the resort's location within the Giant Sequoia National Monument provides direct access to some of California's most awe-inspiring natural wonders. For locals, this means that iconic sites like the Trail of 100 Giants are within easy reach, allowing for a camping trip that seamlessly blends relaxation with exploration of our state's majestic forests. This accessibility to world-class natural attractions right in our backyard is invaluable.
Furthermore, the blend of secluded, full-hookup campsites and a consistently praised friendly staff creates an inviting and comfortable atmosphere. For families, the ability to have a private camping area while still being close to resort amenities like the pools and a delicatessen is a huge benefit. The limited cell service, while initially a consideration, is often embraced by Californians as a rare chance to truly disconnect and fully immerse themselves in the natural surroundings and quality time with loved ones.
Ultimately, California Hot Springs Resort offers a unique and memorable experience that is perfectly suited for California residents. It provides a sanctuary where the stresses of daily life can melt away in warm mineral waters, and where the beauty of the Sierra Nevada foothills can be savored. It’s a compelling choice for anyone looking for a relaxing, adventurous, and distinctly Californian getaway.

Good for kids
This place was such a magical gem during my cross country trip with 2 small kids in tow. I was towing my camper and they had great camping sites located across the street that was very secluded and private. Cell service was limited. The pool and hot tubs were just heaven. The main pool was like bathwater while the other tubs had varying degrees of hot. Loved loved loved it. Staff was pleasant and stay was very memorable. Would love to return someday.
This place is so relaxing and perfect temperature for soaking. Staff is very friendly ...
He was a little piece of history for you. I’ve loved looking at all these photos of California Hot Springs being complete. I lived at Laver market, which was the general store over by Pine Flats with my family. I was 12 years old now 62, and we used to have church meetings in the California Hot Springs when it was in complete and they started doing some renovations. Never thought they would finish that thing so it’s fun to look back and see the completed product. Fond memories.
Nice place to chill. The big pool is heated to a temp close to the Caribbean sea in the dead of summer. One if the two hot tubs is about 10 degrees hotter than the other. The place serves a basic menu and alcoholic drinks and has a cute gift shop. Very laid back atmosphere to hang out for the day with friends or family.
We camped with another couple at a nearby campground and came here our second day. Pros: -It was great to use a real bathroom. -They also have showers in the locker rooms. -Their mini store has odds and ends we wound up needing. -Salted Caramel Ice Cream was delicious -The main pool felt great. -Did not smell sulfuric and water was super soft -Free water was available in the store for swimmers. -Perfect for the day after a hike to sooth muscles. -Had no issues with staff. Other reviews mentioned bad attitudes and discrimination. We were a mixed group of races. The ladies were not overly nice but weren't rude either. They were very matter of fact but I tend to like that about people. Other Facts: -We went on a hot day, bring sandals to wear up to the waters edge. We burned our feet. -$20 per person to swim -Hot Tub closer to the road seemed much hotter -They do not allow dogs (even well behaved on a leash tied up). This is a great stop, especially for anyone camping at one of the dry campgrounds like we did. It may not be the Hilton of hot springs for some, but for us, it was perfect! Thank you for a great time, we'll be back.
