Camp Bullfrog is a great location 30-40 minutes from downtown Chicago. We stayed in mid October for 5 days. There are lots of trails, fishing, kayaking (although the lake is very small) in a beautiful setting. During the week it was very quiet. The weekend was 98% full - what a difference. The first bunch of firewood was free - amazing. We stayed in spot #5 with a 30 foot travel trailer - which was absolutely perfect. Art and John were very helpful. The camp does close the gates so you want to be back before this happens. One note would be to bring yellow jacket traps - we did and caught a ton! Highly recommend this campground.
A great break from city life, only about a hour from home! The trails around the campground are gorgeous, great for biking or walking. Ravines, meadows, lake views, hills. The kids liked the lake for fishing and kayaking. Sites are small and close together, and there’s no shade, so we were glad to have an awning. Clean bathrooms, well maintained, and friendly staff. We enjoyed our stay!
We stayed at the campsite at short notice. The site is large and quiet. At night you can hear the coyotes howling in the distance. Despite its proximity to Chicago, this campsite is very idyllic. The price was a little more expensive, but that may also be due to the location. The staff (young man) was very friendly.
Perfect place for tent camping, RV or rent a cabin. The place is amazing, the lake is beautiful, big and plenty of fish in it. They have bike trail or if you just want to walk….well it’s perfect I have staid in a cabin over night it was a good and peaceful sleep. The campsite has bathrooms with shower, easy accessible for people with special needs. Overall, I will be back. Thank you!
The camp was pretty and well-maintained. The heated bathroom saved our night when we needed to fix a leak in our air mattress in 16° F.
