It is a vital resource for the **Jayhawk Area Council**, offering programs geared toward younger scouts, making it a "great addition to the camp."
While its primary function is supporting the Boy Scouts of America's outdoor programs, the facilities often cater to other groups and the public during non-summer seasons, providing an excellent opportunity for local Kansans to access a well-maintained and structured outdoor setting. Oskaloosa is situated in Jefferson County, placing the camp strategically close to significant bodies of water, though access to large water bodies is often associated with the larger Falley Scout Reservation complex. The reservation itself offers a peaceful, wooded setting that is easily accessible via local Kansas highways and roads.
Its location makes it particularly convenient for area youth organizations, and when available for public or group bookings (often in the fall, winter, and spring), it provides a desirable location for a quick weekend getaway without a lengthy drive. While the trails might be "less developed" than some larger, more established state parks, the entire facility is connected by a system of roads and trails, making all campsites easily reachable. The setting offers a great local option for getting away from city life and immersing yourself in the classic Kansas landscape.
As a facility designed for organized youth camping, Camp Delaware provides practical, essential services focused on group accommodation and basic needs. These amenities ensure that groups can focus on their activities and camaraderie rather than logistical concerns.

 - Seasonal Availability for Local Groups: When not in use for summer camp, the facilities are available, providing a structured, affordable option for local churches, clubs, or family reunions to "get out into the woods."

Customer Reviews
Camp Delaware is the northern part of Camp Jayhawk. As I understand it, Cub Scouts stay in this part of camp during the summer. We camped in open fields with a good shelter with electricity, several water sources, a good bathroom complex and three pavilions. The staff took us on a tour and explanation of the camp since it was new to us. The staff was friendly and inviting. The facilities were a mixture of good and ok. The trails were less developed than I expected. We normally camp at the H. Roe Bartle Scout Reservation. Bartle is much larger with access to a significantly bigger body of water. Bartle strongly supports Mic-O-Say and offers some sort for Order of the Arrow, while Jayhawk strongly supports Order of the Arrow. Jayhawk is a suitable camp to get out into the woods, and I am glad that Lawrence has this facility for their Boy Scouts.
A great addition to the camp that is geared to younger scouts, my son loved it!
