Gorgeous beautiful wildflowers everywhere the last week of July is when we were there. Amazing views of the surrounding mountains a labyrinth to walk if you go down the little path. Great place to bike. No cell reception and a great escape.
Loved this campground. There are no hookups, no water in the campground and no dump station so if you need all those things, no luck. The surroundings are gorgeous. Great hiking trails and there are plaques around the camp that explains the history of the camp during WW2. There is no cell service at all. Leadville is a short 15-20 minute drive and there is service there.
We camped in our tent for 4 nights at site 20 with no hookups. Nice shade in afternoon and evening with plenty of privacy. We enjoyed our stay here and hope to come back. The camp host is very kind and helpful. You are close (within one mile) to Colorado Trail and 11 mile hike to Kokomo Pass. Pet friendly.
