Customer Reviews
My absolute favorite campground! The river is gorgeous, perfect for swimming and fishing. There are some nice sized fish in the pond too. The bathrooms are clean and spacious. The management is wonderful, very personable and friendly. If you are looking for peace and quiet, this campground is perfect.
I chose this place due to the reviews and photos posted but when we got there it was nothing like it was described. Camp sites are super tight together within 10 feet of eachother it seems and they're very tiny camp spots. Also the river is murky and very hard to get to if you have bad knees like me or small children it is a very steep incline just to get to the water. Very disappointing. I stayed about 4 hours before leaving cause it just wasn't what was portrayed in these reviews.
We absolutely love this place! We have stayed lots of places some nicer than others but nothing tops Camp Karma. It always feels like coming home. Lin works hard and is always there to greet us when we arrive. She is fair, helpful, warm, and welcoming. She takes pride in her work and it shows. The sites and property are well taken care of. The outhouses and the bathrooms/showers are always immaculate and well stocked. The sites are large and private. It’s quiet other than the beautiful sounds of nature. Other campers have always been friendly and quiet. We plan to spend as much time as possible here. Thank you Lin and Camp Karma for all you do!
Fantastic experience! Lin is warm and welcoming! Her campground is quiet, quaint and comfortable! Enjoyed the entire experience from check in to the stay! The bathroom and showers are top notch and nothing beats a hot shower after a long hike in a super clean shower! Definitely will stay again and can’t wait to get back and Unwind after weeks of city living! The mountain river was perfect for lounging in and relaxing! Might be just the mountains or time of year (mid July) but I did not get bit by a single mosquito! Thank you again Lin!
Sometimes you have to be forced into a good thing.... Like say... green beans. We were late on booking a campsite for Memorial Day weekend and Lin was the only host that had something available. And boy, were we glad that was the case. We are cyclists and we are often on the road camping. There are very few spots that I have really want to go back to and Camp Karma has become one of them. This campground is a hidden jewel. Lin is an outstanding host with a great vision and great attitude. Plentiful and VERY clean private bathrooms. Outhouses throughout the campground . A very quite spot to cool down on the river at the bottom of the campground. Large field for kids to run around. It is only about ten miles from Smith Mountain Lake and maybe about 15 miles from Roanoke. The area is spectacular for cycling of any kind (road, mountain and gravel) I am definitely going back... Thank you Lin and we are looking forward to seeing you again.
Excellent small camp ground. Some sites are close together, perfect for a larger group, some are a little more isolated. Not that an isolated camp was needed as we were the only visitors much of our stay. The hosts are wonderful people who leave you to enjoy your stay, unlike a recent visit to a certain lake campground where the manager was stopping by so often my wife saw him more than me. It's often very quiet the river bends to wrap around most of the camp sites. The woods are just the right thick for shade and privacy without being unnavigable. Wildlife is abundant. We have had a racoon prowling about but with dogs in camp it has stayed at bay. There have been a couple deer walk by just a few steps away, thankfully those same dogs are well trained to not alert on a non threat. The bath house is excellent! Each bathroom is just right to be both roomy and home like cozy while still being built very durable. It's a good thing they are so great too as its relates to the only problem but makes up for it so well I couldn't ding a star down. The only flaw is the outhouses are poorly designed and far too cramped. When I close the door my nose is about touching it and my knees have nowhere to go to bend and sit so I would have to fall back, so they were not used.
New owners. Very nice people. We camped this past weekend for Bedford graduation. Showers are nice and private. Good camping spot for our 21 ft rv, truck and van. Fire wood brought to our camp site.
Owner was really friendly and helpful. They made our stay as comfortable as possible and the lots have everything you could need for time away in nature. Beautiful environment and will definitely be going back again!
