Customer Reviews
A very fun camp, with a dedicated group of counselors, in a beautiful location, limited or marred only by the effect of a few decades of deferred maintenance which leaves them with no cots in beat up or failing tents, limited and outdated shower facilities, and extraordinary limited porta potty facilities which are the only bathrooms other than two for adults. The lake is clear and beautiful, the side activities offered by camp are outstanding, in particular white water rafting, spelunking and mountain biking with a fantastic set of new bikes in 2019.
2017 - Generally enthusiastic and friendly staff; fantastic waterfront, shooting ranges and high adventure activities; waterfront SAFE. Gorgeous location. Dining hall well run, with enough food options for my selective eater. Showering facilities need updating. Had a solid good week!
Attend in summer 2019. It was clearly a rebuilding year and the staff was less than prepared. The Camp Coordinator quit mid week. Food was very bad, tents in bad condition (we used our own). A number of merit badges cancelled the day before we arrived and the firearms staff was fired while we were walking up to the range for our tour. Beautiful location but that Camp Director was sour every day and clearly did not know how to set a fun tone for the camp. Staffing was so bad that a number of the Trail to First Class sessions couldn't even be signed off by the people "teaching" them. Overall very bad, except for the location. If they addressed their staffing and leadership, it could be worth attending.
I have been to this Boy Scout camp many times and it always shows me and the scout troop a good time. The staff is always helpful and willing to give all of their attention to the kids. This being my local council I try to get here every other year. Another highlight of the camp is that it is on the banks of Crescent Lake. Clean clear water that can be a little choppy in the afternoons but still a great lake to take a swim in all summer. This year they added a huge water feature that allows the kids to climb on top of and jump off. Even with all of the activities on the waterfront the staff does a great job of ensuring the safety of everyone swimming, boating, and just spending time on the beach. I will definitely keep bringing my troop here in the future. Just one word of advice, do not forget the mosquito repellent.
This camp was a big dissapointment and waste of money. The dinning hall was a very small and did not have enough space to fit all the troops. The camp had great staff but was very shorthanded. Not to mention the shortage of merit badge classes. To conclude, the shooting range instructors were incredibly rude and disrespectful.
