Situated conveniently within the Platte County region, Camp Pawnee provides a serene yet accessible location. Visitors consistently praise its spacious grounds, charming atmosphere, and the flexibility offered by the site manager to transform the property to suit a specific vision. The campground ensures essential comforts for campers, including electrical hookups for RVs and access to city water during the standard operating season, making it a reliable choice for those exploring Central Nebraska.

For local users in Nebraska, Camp Pawnee is more than just a place to park an RV; it’s a community resource that fosters family fun. With features like swings for the kids, a large fire ring for group gatherings, and ample room for outdoor activities, it promotes genuine outdoor enjoyment. Whether you are planning a massive outdoor celebration or simply seeking a peaceful, low-cost place to spend the night with electricity, Camp Pawnee offers a valuable and highly adaptable outdoor experience right here in Columbus.

The ability to rent and customize the main building and surrounding grounds is a major draw, providing a blank canvas for hosts to create their perfect event, from an elegant “outdoor cathedral” wedding ceremony to a lively, open-air dance floor. This adaptability, combined with its welcoming, scenic locale, solidifies Camp Pawnee's reputation as a Nebraska gem worth seeking out for both recreation and special events.

Location and Accessibility

Camp Pawnee is strategically located at 2330 S 16th St, Columbus, NE 68601, USA. This placement offers a perfect balance of being close enough to the amenities of Columbus while retaining a feeling of natural separation and tranquility. It is easily accessible for Nebraskans traveling from any direction, situated near major local routes, including the convergence of U.S. 30 and U.S. 81 near Columbus.

  • The campground is positioned near the southern edge of Columbus, providing a quick commute into the city for supplies, dining, or local attractions like the Pawnee Plunge Water Park or Pawnee Park.
  • While the site offers a private, natural feel, it remains convenient for RV and camper access. However, as one customer noted, the road leading directly into the site may be a bit rustic or rough, which is typical for getting into a secluded spot but easily manageable for most vehicles.
  • Its central Nebraska location makes it a practical, mid-state meeting point for large group gatherings, drawing attendees from Omaha, Lincoln, and the western part of the state.
  • The accessibility of the grounds for large-scale events, including ample parking space and open areas for setup, is a critical component of its value as a venue.

This location truly offers the best of both worlds: a peaceful, spacious outdoor setting and the reassurance of nearby city services in Columbus, ensuring a comfortable and well-supported experience for campers and event organizers alike.

  • Large Group Amenities: The site includes a large fire ring ideal for group campfires and outdoor cooking, perfect for wedding receptions or family reunion BBQs.

My daughter had a vision for an outdoor wedding and Camp Pawnee was a wonderful starting point. The site manager was a pleasure to work with to transform a clearing into an outdoor cathedral for wedding of about 300 people. The building met our needs and we transformed the grounds into an outdoor dance floor. Fire ring was large for a large group and the swings were perfect for the kids. We did bring our own AC and no indoor water/sink in the main building. We rolled with it to have one amazing wedding. I do plan to go back to camp and for future events. Thanks Camp Pawnee.

We found this little campground from a Google search. We wound up being the only ones there. It was after Nov 1, so we didn't have water. But we had electricity. So that was perfect. The road is a bit rough getting in there. But it's a gem of a spot.

Rustic. Very few campers. Wide spaces between hookups. Nice manager. Pets have lots of room to play without fencing. Campground fills up with deer at dawn and dusk. Creek runs through. There are some permanent buildings for conferences. Apparently a year ago the whole Campground was flooded. It is nice and grassy now to no muddy spots. Full hookups, but electric is 30 amp. No 50 amp hookups. Worked fine for us because it is full and we did not need much in the way of AC. $12 a night. Less if tenting.
