Location and Accessibility

Camp Perry Campground is located at Port Clinton, OH 43452, USA. This places it directly on the shores of Lake Erie in Ottawa County, a region of Northern Ohio famed for its islands, fishing, and birdwatching opportunities. The camp's specific address is often listed as 1000 Lawrence Rd, Bldg 600, Port Clinton, OH 43452, as it's part of the larger Camp Perry Lodging and Conference Center complex.

Accessibility to Camp Perry can be a bit tricky if relying solely on GPS coordinates, as some "No Outlet" roads can lead to closed gates, especially if you have a large RV. As advised by experienced campers, the key is to "Keep going & Look for those 2 small entrance towers on the main road. That’s where you want to turn. Once you turn drive straight all the way down and the campground will be on your right." This entrance is typically off Ohio State Route 2.

For Ohio residents, Camp Perry is conveniently located. It's about an hour's drive east of Toledo and roughly an hour and a half west of Cleveland, making it highly accessible from two of Ohio's major metropolitan areas. Columbus is approximately a two-hour drive to the south. The well-maintained state routes ensure a smooth journey for even the largest RVs. Its proximity to Port Clinton also means easy access to local amenities, including grocery stores, restaurants, and bait shops, providing all necessary conveniences just a short drive away.

DONT USE GPS COORDINATES! If you see No Outlet do not turn down that road esp if you have an RV. It looks like you can turn left into camp Perry campground down the no outlet road but those gates are not open. Keep going & Look for those 2 small entrance towers on the main road. That’s where you want to turn. Once you turn drive straight all the way down and the campground will be on your right.

Wonderfully history behind the camp. Wonderful current activities with the shooting programs. You can't beat the location and price for full hookups, on a long paved level site, and shade trees. No noise from traffic or trains. We didn't use the bathhouse, but it looked nice.

The lots were spacious. Each lot has a picnic table and a fire ring. It was a very quiet campground. We were there the first week of August and it was only filled to a third of capacity.

Stayed there twice on our RV road trip from NH to CA and back. Beautiful little fam camp ground! The sites are plenty deep for big rigs and paved with beautiful green lawns on both sides. We had electric, water and sewer hookups. The sewer hookup for our site was rather odd, site #9 (I didn't investigate the other site sewer hookups) in that it was below the ground and didn't have a collar on it. We had to remove the elbow on the end of the stinky slinky. The restrooms and showers were not bad at all. We only stayed one night each time, so didn't do any sightseeing. Also, as other reviewers have stated, DO NOT ENTER on N Camp Perry Eastern Road!! (We made that mistake) Enter in on the main entrance that has a stone turret on either side of the entrance. There is no pass stop at this base. In May, it was too cool to take advantage of the lake, and sadly it was experiencing a huge fish die off. We stopped again on our way back during a big Mayfly hatch, LOL. Also, the water in the lake was not desirable for swimming. I don't know if it is always that way, and I know Camp Perry cannot be responsible for the lake.
