Camp Richardson Campground is known for its friendly staff who are always ready to assist guests. The campsite's location near Highway 89 means it's easily accessible but can be a bit noisy due to nearby traffic. Visitors should be aware of the active bear population in the area and are encouraged to follow bear safety guidelines, such as securing food properly.
- Activities: The campground offers a variety of activities including swimming, boating, fishing, and exploring the surrounding trails. However, some guests have noted that certain facilities, like restrooms, may require attention and maintenance during peak seasons.
Customer feedback highlights both the positive and areas for improvement. Many appreciate the clean showers and helpful staff but mention occasional noise from nearby highways and campers. Bear sightings are common, so visitors should be prepared with bear-safe practices. Despite these minor drawbacks, Camp Richardson remains a popular choice among tent campers.

Customer Reviews
This is a nice campground. A bit noisy as it sits right next to the highway. The check in guy was super nice and helpful. I hadn't seen that you actually have to check in at the hotel (could have missed that on my part). So that was a bit confusing as we got there late and it was dark. The facilities definitely needed some attention. Several bathrooms were out of toilet paper and paper towels. Some needed some cleaning. One stall had a broken faucet. The smoke in the campground was horrible. I'm all about having a campfire but the smoke from everyone having a campfire just lingered down towards the ground. In Idaho we've been dealing with smoke all summer :(. I know it's not the fault of the camp itself or if it was a fluke thing that night?.... But the smoke throughout the night was difficult to deal with.
Stayed from Friday to Sunday mid September. Our first night was ruined by neighboring campers which blasted music until 2 am along with talking loud, shooting what I think was a small caliber gun and fire cracker. Security does roam from 1pm until sometime before midnight. Like many other reviews mention, bears are extremely active in this area with us encountering one in broad day light after arriving. You can hear them set off car alarms all through the night so be mindful of that. They tend to roam around from dusk until dawn so keep your food locked up and follow bear guidelines. You will more than likely have a bear encounter. Overall a solid choice in tent camping. Slightly expensive for what it is in my opinion. Showers and bathrooms were relatively clean. 2 dollars per token which gets you 8 minutes. Friendly staff.
We had a wonderful weekend at Camp Richardson RV Park. The registration process was seamless and conveniently located right across the street. We were lucky to secure a lovely spot (#76) that is set back from the road, providing a peaceful atmosphere while still being just a five-minute walk to the beach. The park was impeccably clean, and access to water and electricity was straightforward. Just a tip: make sure to bring at least a 50-foot hose. We are already looking forward to our next stay in this area!
We stayed at RV Park for the 3rd time. We like the park, however the only tolerable sites with hook ups are up high in the campground. Sites must have a flat spot near the hook ups. 2 out of 3 times staying there We have had undeveloped, impractical sites. I will only stay there again if I can get one of the level sites guaranteed or money back! Otherwise staff great, location great ( biking awesome!)and yes, ice cream is great!
Super friendly staff. Great facility. They used to offer a great military discount, now they offer none. I guess Patriotism diminishes after the war…
