Great place close to Denver for great free camping and hiking. There are several trails that lead out of this campsite into the Mount Evans wilderness area so parking can be an issue at times. The road leading to the campsites and trails is easily passable be passenger car. There are a half dozen campsites in the main camping area, and a handicap accessible site with vault toilets. This is a very beautiful area the forest and the undergrowth are lush and green.
I really liked this free campground, super beautiful. The only negative thing I can say is heading up the mountain at a very inconvenient spot someone placed two of the tallest speed bumps I have ever seen and they are at a very steep incline. My van did not appreciate them and they scrapped up some tanks underneath on the way down. So be very careful, but that’s the only downside. If you can make it passed the worst part it’s a little Gem. Enjoy.
Free camping. Good hikes along the creek. Lush and beautiful this year.
Nice place to camp close to home. Friendly, kinda far in to my Evans wilderness, so doesn’t seem like lots of folks go. Great jumping off point with lots of spaces...
A short drive from the city. Gravel road the last 7 miles. Excellent hikes into the Mt Evans wilderness area. Primitive camping at the trailhead with outposts along the trails.
