Nice campground with shaded lots. Water electric and sewer all worked as expected. Friendly staff. We stayed in R69. It was a bit of a squeeze to get in with the way the neighboring sites were parked but once we were in all was well. Breakfast was pretty good at the pancake house and they gave us tickets for 3 free breakfasts in little goody bags. Very nice touch. It was too cold to try out the pool. The shower house was well lit with plenty of mirrors and electrical outlets for us ladies. The showers were not the ritziest but clean and serviceable. I enjoyed the bunnies and watching the kids ride the pedal cars around the grounds. All the surrounding campers were welcoming and had well behaved dogs. We had our dogs and they enjoyed it too, they even made a few friends. Overall a nice little campground very conveniently located.
Camp Sandusky is great! We stay here when visiting family in the area, usually at the start of the season. Because its so early there are very few campers before Memorial day, which suits us fine. I am sure it gets busy for the Cedar Point season, and it looks to be a great spot for families, Well shaded, ample camp sites, plenty of hookups, primitive and cabin sites available. It provides a nice woodsy camping experience yet close to town and the attractions. Nice staff and relatively quiet.
We camped here to visit with Family and Cleveland Clinic Dr visit. Reservation was smooth and easy along with checkin. Family visits were great with campfire, children’s playground, and swimming! Doctoring changed our schedule and we had to visit Mike in office 3 times with different reservations at Camp Sandusky. Staff worked hard and diligently to accommodate us and make sure we could stay to get Cleveland Clinic appointments made. The way they worked at schedule and make sure we had a place to stay really took pressure off us and so much appreciated during our medical challenges. Showers and restrooms were very clean and serviceable! One stop and you’ll be a repeat camper as we are!
We did not use any of the amenities listed on their website because we just needed a place to park our camper for a couple nights while we visited friends. So nothing to review there. However what we did experience was incredibly small rv spots where we witnessed camper awning coming close to touching the campers next to them as well as tent spaces with just enough space to set chairs up between them. We had to ask people to move their cars that were parked on their own sites just so we could pull in and out of our site. I'm sorry but that is a little ridiculous. The length of our spot was fine once we got into it. We were just glad no one rent the space next to our so we could have some breathing room. We also made the mistake of choosing a spot next to the shower house and breakfast area. We assume there were alot of not so regular campers out this weekend because there was zero camper etiquette shown with everyone walking through our campsite which included kids climbing over our picnic table. Not really a park issue but maybe when people check in the staff could mention that to folks.
We stayed in a cabin at Camp Sandusky for 2 nights while vacationing on the 4th of July weekend. The cabin itself was pretty decent! Cozy little site with a fire pit and our own small porch and picnic table. The park was clean, and visitors mostly keep to themselves. It was actually very quiet, no loud partiers so we slept well. The bathrooms were kept pretty clean (it's a campsite bathroom, idk what some of these people were expecting, based on their reviews...) but there was always t.p. and soap available. We had a pancake breakfast, the food and coffee were good! We rented peddle bikes for a cruise around the park. And staff are oh so friendly! Shoutout to Heather and the girls in the office! We absolutely would return to Camp Sandusky :)
