Camp Shehaqua is described as a place where you can make your outdoor experience as adventurous or as relaxed as you desire, all while feeling safe and having fun. It reminds visitors of a "childhood away camp," suggesting rustic cabins, proximity to water, and a wonderful sense of being "in the middle of nowhere" yet still conveniently connected to civilization. For us Pennsylvanians, who appreciate both rugged outdoor adventure and comfortable, accessible getaways, Camp Shehaqua presents a unique and compelling option. It's a place designed for focusing on being in nature, whether for a group event, a family gathering, or a personal retreat.
In this article, we'll delve into what makes Camp Shehaqua a truly special destination for locals. We’ll explore its serene location in Lake Harmony, its accessibility within the Poconos, the services it offers to ensure a comfortable stay, and the unique features that make it a highly recommended spot. Understanding its offerings will help you plan your next memorable outdoor adventure, where you can get dirty, sweat hard, and sleep like a baby under the Pennsylvania stars.
Camp Shehaqua is nestled in the picturesque area of Lake Harmony, PA 18624, USA. This location places it firmly within the heart of the Pocono Mountains, a beloved recreational region in northeastern Pennsylvania. Lake Harmony itself is a well-known resort area, famous for its namesake lake and surrounding natural beauty, offering a blend of quiet charm and accessibility to various activities.
The camp's description as being "in the middle of nowhere (but not too far from civilization if you need it)" perfectly captures its strategic positioning. It provides that desired sense of escape and natural immersion while ensuring that essential services, towns, and major roads are within a reasonable distance. Lake Harmony is well-connected by Pennsylvania state routes, including PA-903 and PA-115, which provide access to major interstates like I-80 and I-476 (the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike).

A big thanks goes out to Trevor. He did a great job painting a rock in the picture that looks like a football. We found it by the parking area above the Fordway in Hickory Run State Park. We will display it proudly in front of our home to remember our trip to the Poconos.
This place is the outdoor place to be! You can make it as outdoorsy as you'd like but camp like it's safe and fun. This place reminds me of a childhood away camp....old cabins, water nearby, middle of nowhere (but not to far from civilization if you need it). Great time to focus on being in nature. We did a martial arts experience at this location and it was awesome. Got dirty, got rained on, managed to sweat hard and at night sleep like a baby! Has all the necessary amenities, but really you can make it without anything special! Can't wait to go back!

Rustic but very nice facility- I would definitely go back next year!
