Camp Sullivan Introduce

Welcome to Camp Sullivan, a hidden gem nestled in the heart of Oak Forest, Illinois. Whether you're a tent enthusiast, an RV traveler, or planning a group camping adventure, Camp Sullivan offers a serene and well-maintained environment for all. With its convenient location and a variety of amenities, it's the perfect spot for a weekend getaway or an extended stay.

At Camp Sullivan, you'll find a range of accommodations to suit your needs. From spacious RV sites with 15, 30, and 50-amp electrical connections to cozy rental cabins and large bunkhouses for group camping, there's something for everyone. Tent sites are spread across the grounds, providing a true outdoor experience. While individual RV sites don't have water or sewer connections, water conservation is made easy with clean and well-kept bathrooms and showers.

One of the standout features of Camp Sullivan is "The Barn," a central hub housing a climbing wall and concessions. It's a great place to gather, have fun, and make lasting memories. The campground is also known for its friendly staff, who ensure the grounds are clean and well-maintained, even on quieter days.

Security at Camp Sullivan is solid, and while there may be some noise from neighboring campers, it never disrupts the peaceful atmosphere. Quiet hours are respected, ensuring a restful night's sleep for all guests. The roads throughout the campground are in good condition, and the trees add a natural charm without posing any clearance issues for larger RVs.

Here’s what some of our happy campers have to say about their experience at Camp Sullivan:

  • "Camp Sullivan is an excellent spot for a weekend getaway. The RV sites are tight but manageable, and the overall vibe is just right for adventure and relaxation." - RV traveler

While Camp Sullivan is ideal for tent camping and group outings, some RV travelers have noted challenges with the tight back-in sites and overgrown vegetation. However, the campground continues to improve and adapt to meet the needs of all its guests. If you're planning an RV trip, be sure to check the site layout and bring your own water hose for tank filling. Dumping facilities are available at Camp Bullfrog, just 20 minutes away.

Camp Sullivan is open daily from 9:00 AM to 10:00 PM, making it easy to plan your visit. Whether you're seeking adventure, relaxation, or a bit of both, Camp Sullivan is the perfect destination for your next outdoor escape. Camp Sullivan offers a charming and well-maintained space for campers of all kinds, from tent enthusiasts to RV travelers like us. All the RV sites here are back-in, and while they are tight, they are certainly manageable. We brought our 36-foot RV, the Badger, and although it barely fit, we were able to position it close enough to the power box by choosing not to extend the slide. This turned out to be a smart decision, considering the timbers that line the gravel surface of the site. These timbers add a bit of a challenge when maneuvering a larger rig, and in our case, removing the timber closest to the road would have made things much easier. Each site is equipped with 15, 30, and 50-amp electrical connections, though it’s worth noting that there’s no water or sewer available at individual sites. As a result, water conservation becomes essential. The bathrooms here, however, are clean and well-kept, which is always appreciated, especially after a few days without on-site water. Security at Camp Sullivan feels solid, and while there is some noise, it wasn’t disruptive. We stayed over a weekend, and though there was a lively group in the group campsite Saturday night, they respectfully wrapped up their activities by quiet hours, ensuring a peaceful night's sleep. The roads throughout the campground are in good condition, and while the trees add a nice atmosphere, they aren’t a concern for your RV clearance. That said, I did notice a bent hook on the post marking our site number, likely the result of an unfortunate encounter with a large vehicle. In addition to RV sites, Camp Sullivan offers a range of accommodations for all kinds of campers. There are small rental cabins, large bunkhouses for group camping, and plenty of tent sites spread across the grounds. We didn’t have the chance to check out the "Barn" yet, but it’s a major feature here, housing a climbing wall and concessions. We also noticed staff busy cleaning the bunkhouse areas and taking care of trash removal, even on a quiet Sunday. Everyone we encountered was friendly and added to the overall positive vibe of the place. Camp Sullivan is an excellent spot for a weekend getaway or an extended stay, with plenty of amenities and a welcoming atmosphere. It’s a place where we felt comfortable and cared for, with just the right balance of adventure and relaxation. Appreciative for a place to stay but better for tent camping- not great for RVers and not well maintained for the RV side. The spots are blindside backins and the weeds and shrubs are overgrown making it really difficult to back in to our spot. There’s also railroad ties so you have to be very specific backing into your site and with the random obstacles of overgrown bushes, railroad ties, and a post with a metal hook that clearly has been hit and bent open, it makes it really challenging. We scratched our car 10” trying to unhitch. They mow the grass but don’t weed whack. I literally cut the weeds around the railroad ties with scissors because they were a foot tall in some places. The bathrooms were TERRIBLE. We always brought our own toilet paper. The one sink clogged in the ladies room and the other one didn’t work. It was also unnecessarily dirty. I actually brought in my own cleaning supplies and cleaned the sink and mirror myself. The shower was barely usable. The one stall had a trickle and was dirty and the handicap stall was bigger but It clogged immediately and there was no place for the shower head to hang on. It was resting on the bar. We used our planet fitness membership for the shower after a workout instead. It’s electric only but there is a hose you can ask the office for to fill up your tanks if you want. You can dump at Camp bullfrog which is 20 minutes away. You’ll be sad when you get there that you didn’t book that location as it feels way more like camping than this place did. I’m glad for a place to stay, but it was definitely more geared towards group tent camping and the RV sites seem like an afterthought. Also if you plan to leave and return after 10pm you need to call to have someone let you back in. Which is fine but was a surprise it was locked every night

Great alternative to staying in expensive Hotels....2 nights weekend rate only $98.00. Great shower house, and camp sites are nice. Camp here, then it's just a 1 hour drive to Chicago! Check in was easy, and the guy working was very helpful. Pack of Cub Scouts were camping down the way.

Not a well maintained park. Grass around the RV site hadn't been cut in some time and weeds were encroaching the firepit and table affecting use. The picnic table had a large hole in it. Toilet paper dispensers were missing as was toilet paper.

A group I belong to have been coming here every year for a weekend together. The cabins have always been clean prior to our arrival. The cabins have always been spacious so that all in our group have plenty of room to be able to mingle and sleep. Bathrooms have always been clean and stocked. Staff members have always been friendly. We are looking forward to a stay there in a few short months.
