Customer Reviews
Our experience at this campground was good. Some of the staff were a little grumpy but for the most part the place was a good fit for us. Sure they have a bunch of rules but you won't have a problem unless you're a rule breaker. We had a site semi-close to the showers/bathrooms but it was still a good walk. The showers were adequate and the water was hot. The site was roomy enough for 2 tents and 2 large cars. The CG had a trail to Worthington State Forest which made hiking easy from the site. Mt. Tammany and Sunfish Pond are in hiking distance but there is a steep trail out of the CG.
We moved into our camper in May. We picked Camp Taylor for our first season as full time RVers. I can't say enough wonderful things about this campground. The property is absolutely beautiful, and immaculately kept, and the Taylor family is lovely. Bathrooms and showers were always very clean. There is lots to do - hiking, mini golf, panning for gems, swimming in the pond, a nice playground, and a field with cornhole, volleyball net and other field games. The store also has lots of great things! The sites are some of the biggest I have ever seen, with lots of privacy. We saw wildlife daily, and we could hear the wolves howling in the preserve from our site - and yes! we did see bears. If you follow the very reasonable rules and guidelines set forth at check in, you will not have any issues with any critters. We stayed for 4 months, and absolutely loved it. One of the happiest and most peaceful summers I've ever had. 100% would stay again.
Stayed at site #71 Electric(30amp)/Water. The site was mostly level, shaded, decent privacy, and not too close to our neighbor. The power was stable and water pressure good. The roads in are gravel and easy to navigate. The main attraction is the wolves of course, but you can swim in the lake, hike, play mini golf, use the playground, do volleyball, corn hole, or horseshoes. The camp store was stocked pretty good with both supplies and gifts. You can also rent movies, grab a book, or play the games in the game room. I didn’t see the female showers but the males were clean. Can’t forget the staff. They were very friendly and accommodating. Even though the camp is a little outdated and the signage to get where you need to get too could better, but we had a great experience!!!! Note: when they say be mindful of bears they mean it!! So take that warning seriously.
We had a wonderful time at campground. Appreciated the cleanliness of all facilities and attention to recycling. Great area to walk around and hike up to wolf preserve. Staff was friendly and helpful. Campground very quiet and relaxing, looking forward to getting back soon!
Beautiful campground. Easy to get to, but some roads in are steep! We were on sites 64-66 and the creek along the back of the sites was mostly pleasant, but did turn into a small white water rapid after a heavy rain and made us think our sites would flood. They didn't flood though, thank goodness. We also got a visit from a rattlesnake passing thru our sites, which was a first for me. I'm so glad it rattled and hissed loudly as i walked towards it to make sure I knew it was there before I got too close
My friend has been a very long time camper here and a couple years ago, she bought her first camper and decided to get a seasonal site here. She loves it. So, I bought a new camper as well and guess what, I got a seasonal site too! I stayed my first weekend and I'm in love. I started by hooking up and leveling my camper. Stayed for the weekend, met many neighbors, stack a bunch of wood (still not done) and enjoyed my stay. The owners and staff also take the time to know your name and your habits, was nice to walk in and they say "hi Paige".
Roma and I have been to many campgrounds and camp Taylor is by far the best. Where should I start? How about reception? The gentleman working the front desk was very nice and professional. The campsite was spacious. The campground is very close to mt. Tammany and multiple farm stores. Roma and I look forward to returning to camp Taylor!
It’s a beautiful rustic campground. Perfect for the outdoors experience. Plenty of hiking, fishing and mountain biking in the area. You can hike to Mt Tammany straight from the campground. I’ve been taking my family there for probably the past 15 years almost every year. The one star reviews reflect the bad apples that come to party hard and break rules. I’ve never had a I’ve never had an issue, not once. Trust me, You can have plenty of fun there as long as you’re respectful like you’re supposed to be.
Our experience at Camp Taylor was extremely disappointing. The facilities were poorly maintained—bathrooms were dirty, showers barely worked, and our campsite had trash left behind from previous visitors. But what really ruined the trip was the behavior of the owners. They were shockingly rude, speaking to guests in a condescending and aggressive tone whenever concerns were brought up. Instead of addressing issues professionally, they acted like we were inconveniencing them just by asking simple questions. It created a tense and uncomfortable atmosphere for everyone. We came for a relaxing nature getaway and left feeling stressed and frustrated. I would not recommend Camp Taylor to anyone, especially families or first-time campers. There are plenty of other places that actually care about their guests. One of the most alarming parts of our stay at Camp Taylor was the frequent presence of bears wandering around the campground. We saw them multiple times near campsites, including ours, which was incredibly unsettling—especially since we had children with us. There were no clear warnings or proper safety measures in place. When we expressed our concerns, instead of addressing the issue, the owners actually yelled at us for not “knowing the rules.” They were rude and dismissive, blaming us instead of taking responsibility for guest safety. It was shocking and completely unprofessional. We didn’t feel safe or respected at all during our time there.
Choose any other camp grounds. There’s no polite words to use for the staff and their unprofessional behavior. I was here for the Wolf preserve an hour early. I wanted to see the area. Camp grounds staff advised us that wolf preserve staff were not around and to leave now. I own and operate several business and wouldn’t treat paying customers like this regardless if it was their business or yours. Pulled into the parking lot to turn around for them to then follow me advising again the properties closed. So I drove up the block to go to a park and spend money else where until the staff arrive for the wolf tour.
