Camp Wokanda OA Lodge Introduce
Camp Wokanda OA Lodge, located in Peoria, IL 61615, offers a rustic venue for camping, events, and outdoor activities. As part of the Campgrounds & RV Parks category, it provides a space for various gatherings, including scout outings and special events.
Customer reviews present a mixed view of Camp Wokanda OA Lodge. One reviewer, who initially gave a three-star rating, highlighted the venue's cuteness and affordability but noted the significant drawback of having no air conditioning. This lack of AC is particularly problematic for events during warmer seasons. The reviewer also mentioned that only minimal fans are provided, making the lodge less comfortable in hot and humid weather. They recommended the venue for late fall and winter occasions or for campers who don't mind the heat.
However, an edited review from the same individual, following a wedding event, resulted in a one-star rating. This review detailed significant issues with staff planning and rudeness towards guests. The reviewer also reported that the ceremony location was changed without the bride and groom's approval, leading to their wedding being held directly across from another wedding with only an hour between events. The ranger's behavior was described as rude and preferential towards the other wedding, causing discomfort for the guests. This reviewer strongly advised against hosting weddings at this location.
Conversely, another reviewer expressed a positive experience, particularly for scout activities. They enjoyed bringing their Scouts to stay in the ridge cabins, which provided a break from tent camping in the winter. The reviewer noted that the facilities are in good working order, park personnel are helpful, and the trails offer terrain diversity. They also mentioned enjoying sledding when there is snow.
In summary, Camp Wokanda OA Lodge offers a rustic setting suitable for camping and some events. However, potential users should be aware of the mixed reviews regarding event management and the lack of air conditioning. It is recommended for scout activities and winter camping, but caution is advised for those planning events during warmer months. three star: cute, affordable venue but does not openly state that there is NO AC even though the lodge is available year round. it should be made clear, especially for those having special events during the warmer seasons, that there is no cooling system and minimal (2) small fans provided. recommended for late fall/winter occasions or those who are camping and don’t mind sleeping in warmth/humidity during summer. edit after wedding: one star. staff had poor planning and were rude to guests. they also had changed the location of the ceremony without getting approval from the bride and groom (!!!???), so our wedding was directly across from a different wedding. the weddings were only one hour apart. while the folks at the other wedding stated they did not mind us sharing the central parking area, the ranger rudely demanded that all guests for our wedding were to park at the lodge entrance then walk down a significant decline to the ceremony area so we wouldn’t interrupt the other wedding. it was clear and wildly uncomfortable that the other wedding ceremony was given preference over ours—several guests had commented on having rude interactions with the ranger. the list goes on, but after the wedding day, my family, several of our guests, and I would not recommend having a wedding here.
Really enjoy bringing our Scouts here and staying in the ridge cabins. Nice break from tent camping in the winter, but we still get to work on some pioneering skills with the wood heat and wood cook stove. The facilities are in good working order, the park personnel are really helpful, and the trails have some nice terain diversity. We like to bring sleds if there's enough snow on the ground.
We had a great time at the lodge! Absolutely beautiful setting and the cabin has many amenities. Make sure you known your headcount as there are a fixed number of beds. I do wish they had directions for using the wood furnace...luckily we found them online otherwise it would have been a bit uncomfortable. Would go again!
My favorite place to creek hike!
I attended a wedding here and it was just beautiful. Simply a wonderful place for exploration and adventures.
