Campers' Paradise Introduce

For generations of Minnesotans, Campers' Paradise in Nevis has been more than just a campground; it’s a cherished family tradition, a place where time slows down and genuine connections are forged. Nestled on a private island in the stunning, crystal-clear waters of Lake Belle Taine, this unique destination offers an authentic, back-to-basics camping experience that feels like stepping back to a simpler time. If you’re a local seeking a truly immersive outdoor escape where kids can roam free, families can reconnect, and the beauty of Minnesota’s lake country unfolds before you, Campers' Paradise is undoubtedly your ideal spot.

What makes Campers' Paradise so special, and why do families return year after year? It’s the harmonious blend of natural beauty, thoughtful amenities, and a palpable sense of community. The journey itself is part of the charm, arriving via a long gravel road that transforms into a causeway leading directly to Goat Island, the campground’s unique home. Once on the island, you’re enveloped by hundreds of mature trees and winding roads, where children ride bikes freely, echoing simpler times. The campground fosters an atmosphere of genuine hospitality, with friendly faces always ready to greet you at the small office, which also offers souvenirs, ice cream, and essential groceries, ice, and firewood. Beyond the welcoming vibe, the sheer beauty of Lake Belle Taine, with its seven miles of pristine, clear water, provides an unparalleled backdrop for all your Minnesota lake country adventures.

Campers' Paradise boasts an idyllic and unique location at 19478 Edgewater Dr, Nevis, MN 56467, USA. What truly sets it apart is its setting on a private, 55-acre island known as Goat Island, in the middle of the breathtaking Lake Belle Taine. For Minnesotans, this offers a distinct sense of escape and privacy, making it feel truly removed from the everyday hustle.

Access to the campground is part of the adventure. Visitors arrive via a causeway that connects the mainland to the island, providing a unique and memorable entry point. While the approach is a long gravel road, it’s well worth the journey. The campground is conveniently located within the beautiful northern lake country between Park Rapids and Walker. Directions typically involve taking County Road 18 on the north side of Lake Belle Taine, following signs for about 3 miles west. This ease of access from popular Minnesota travel routes ensures that your family getaway begins smoothly. Despite its island setting, the park remains connected to the small, charming town of Nevis, providing nearby options for any additional needs or local exploration. The crystal-clear waters of Lake Belle Taine itself, navigable to other lakes in the Mantrap Chain, further enhance the feeling of boundless aquatic access.

Campers' Paradise offers a thoughtful array of services and facilities designed to enhance the traditional camping experience while providing essential comforts and recreational opportunities:

  • Campsites: Features 80 wooded campsites, with both interior and beachfront options. Sites are generally spacious and spread out, ensuring privacy with plenty of trees between them. Each campsite has an electrical hookup (50 amp available).

I am not sure why this place doesn't have 1,000 stars, but to each their own. We took our son here to surprise him for his birthday and could not be happier. Yes, it is difficult to get in to, but there is a reason for that. People have been coming here for generations and once you visit, you will see why. You arrive on a long gravel road that turns in to a causeway leading to Goat Island. You are greeted by hundreds of mature trees and winding roads with kids riding their bikes all over like we were back in 1980. The office is small and always has a friendly face behind the desk. They have souvenirs, ice cream, and a small selection of groceries. You can also purchase ice and firewood there. In addition, they have a pontoon, fishing boats, kayaks, and other equipment you can rent. Behind the office is the beach area. There is a volleyball court, playground, and a beautiful beach with all kinds of fun things, including water trampolines. There are some campsites up by the beach and cabins as well. If you drive down from the beach area there is a little arcade that has fun games-and the ones that you can actually play until you win instead of blowing your allowance for nothing. The campsites are thoughtfully spread throughout the island. Each has an electrical hookup, but no water or sewer. They have water by the bathrooms to fill up and a guy comes every Thursday to pump black tanks if you need that service. Otherwise, the closest dump site is in Akeley at the campground there ($10). They have some interior campsites, most of which are very roomy. The beachfront sites are beautiful, some are more shady than others. We stayed in 65, which is more open, but there were still plenty of trees between sites for privacy. Our site had a gorgeous sandy beach and the kids were in the water all day. We were able to bring the rental pontoon right up to our site too. If you have a boat, you can park that by your site if you have a waterfront site, or there are several spots on the island you can park it too. There were a good variety of both tents and campers. Call their office for details on your rig, some sites cannot fit very big ones. They also know of a camper rental place too, in case you want to tow your boat or don't feel like tenting. Overall, super friendly, clean, and just stunning surroundings. Lake Belle Taine goes on for days and is crystal clear. We found some decent fishing spots, but there are a lot of areas that are nothing but sand. It is a great recreation lake. Highly recommend! Photos include our site 65, and some of our rentals one is at site 4 and the other was an interior site across the way.

2025 was our first year camping at Campers Paradise and I hope to return again very soon. The showers/ restrooms were very clean and well kept, the beach offered hours of tanning and swimming fun, and the campsites are large and private- surrounded by tall trees. We enjoyed every minute of our stay.

Amazing experience! We had an inside spot and it was perfect! Not to close to people, very quiet and amazing workers! They even brought water to us when we forgot to fill on our way in!

Grew up coming here and had the greatest of memories. This last weekend I was able snag a reservation for a tent site and brought my two little boys for what I'd hope would be a great experience. Within the first half hour I had a staff member (later found out it was a gal named "Lynn"?) approach and reprimand me for not returning my firewood cart quick enough. I apologized and said I was on my way to walk it back, but hadn't even had it 20 minutes. She aggressively yelled, "we only have four of them!!!!". Mind you, I'm a 39 year old rule following, accommodating woman. The interaction was bizarre to say the least. Then, the next morning the same woman attacked me by the restrooms stating my car was parked there too long. I packed up and left immediately. NEVER AGAIN. What an icky, mean human.
