Here’s what some of our happy guests have to say about their experience:
- "We stayed for a full week in late September. The cabins are very clean and amenities in the cabins (books, games, and movies) are a nice touch. We had awesome weather; we did not spend much time in the cabins except to sleep. Up early, had coffee with the goats and rabbits, sometimes the turkeys would stop by, then off to find a different hiking trail. The cabin kitchen is functionally supplied to cook your own meals if you wish, also laundry equipment on site, (they provide the laundry supplies too). We will be staying there again without question. Sarah and Al have a little piece of heaven and are very sweet to share it with you."
- "What a wonderful place to stay! We were entertained by the animals and the accommodations were inviting, fresh, and clean. Check-in and check-out were smooth and easy. Sarah and Al were so down to earth and friendly to deal with. Campfire Cabins isn't commercialized like a lot of places are becoming out west, and that is what sets them apart. We will be back for sure!"

We stayed for a full week in late September. Days prior to our arrival, Sarah provided us with a welcome email/text with check-in information and if we had any questions/concerns or special needs to contact her. I found this to be above expectations. The cabins are very clean and amenities in the cabins (books, games and movies) are a nice touch. We had awesome weather; we did not spend much time in the cabins except to sleep. Up early, had coffee with the goats and rabbits, sometime the turkeys would stop by, then off to find a different hiking trails. I can't recommend this place highly enough. We stayed here for almost a week while on vacation in the black hills. The cabins are awesome. Even though they're four years old they look like new. The owners do a fantastic job. They're the perfect size for our family of four. We hung out with the other people staying in the cabins two nights in the common area around the camp fire. So much fun talking to people from all across the country. The owners even came out and sat and talked with everyone. They are fairly centrally located from all the little towns and places to go. At night the stars are amazing and it is very quiet. They even bring you eggs from their chickens. The beds are comfortable, the kitchen has all the tools you need for making food there, there's wifi in every cabin, and the heating and air conditioning keep them just where you want them temperature wise. It was a great experience and we are already planning a return trip to stay here again!
I don’t want to shout too loud, but we can’t keep this gem all to ourselves. This place was everything we needed and more. It’s perfectly located in the Hills to ago back & forth to a variety of destinations each way and not feel like all you do is drive. Sarah & Al go above & beyond to make sure you have all the comforts of home: from the farm fresh eggs, full kitchen down to the pots & pans and storage bags, to the grill and game area just outside the cabin. If you don’t want to cook every meal, Sarah also gave us great recommendations for places to eat. Sugar Shack Burgers are delicious. Since we can’t be at Campfire Cabins every weekend, we know you won’t be disappointed in your stay because you’ll be taken care of. You’ll be treated as friends & family, not just a number. Getting back out to Campfire Cabins won’t happen soon enough for our family, but we cherish the memories made until the next time!
What a wonderful place to stay. The cabin was so clean, neat, and the loft would be so cool for kids! The cabin was so well furnished with so many games, movies & books, but there was no time for them. Instead we spent time around the campfire with our awesome hosts, Sarah & Al, and our fellow guests from Wisconsin & Colorado. And I can’t forget to mention all the animals - baby calves, chickens, turkeys, cute bunnies, and a super friendly cat. I can’t wait to go back!
