Customer Reviews
Stayed at the Indiana Dunes State Campground on an RV trip over the Thanksgiving holiday week. We arrived late at night, so it wasn’t much to take pictures. Woke up bright and early the next day and snapped the attached photo. The park itself was rustic, clean/quiet and comfortable. The restrooms were limited, which also included the ice bath showers. The campground took care of our needs, and we appreciate it. If you happen to be in the area, please check them out.
Camp ground is nice some sites are a little close to each other. Site 91 is a good site. Bathrooms could use an upgrade and a good cleaning. Beach is about .5 mile easy walk beach trail
Site 26e We chose a site that was very nice behind us was tree cover and we weren’t too close to other sites. The site itself was level which made parking, setting up, and hooking up the electric easy. Parking our 30 foot trailer was no problem however we did notice that there were other sites where pulling in and out might’ve been more challenging. The facilities were really well-maintained. The bathrooms were very clean. The showers were also well-maintained. The campground is close to Indiana dunes with .5-.6 mile trails leading to the beach area.
Site 26. This was a 1 night stay, the week of July 4th. Level and fit our 26ft Motorhome and tow on the side with plenty of room. Close to bathrooms, camp store and trail to beach and Nature Center. We did not get a chance to go to the Nature Center. The trail to the beach was 0.5 mile long, beautiful, and easily walked. The beach was gorgeous, with a Cafe, Ice cream shop, bar on the rooftop(check hrs of operation), and bathrooms- you can also drive here. There are no lights on the trail, so if you go for sunset, it will be dark for the return walk. Great playground close by. The camp store was good, we got fire wood and stuff for Smore's. However, the bathrooms had to be the worst bathrooms I have ever seen, both at the campground and the beach. I understand that they are a bit older, but do not understand how filthy they were, how disgusting people can be and to think someone had to clean up this mess(which was not cleaned). There was vomit and poop all over the stalls, dirty diapers on benches in the changing area and the trash everywhere was over filled and on the ground. I am thankful that I have my own private bathroom, but there were many tent campers who did not. Note, that if you are camping and staying at the Indiana Dunes State Campground, you have free access to the 3 Dunes Challenge which is right there. However, if you want to the Diana of the Dunes Trail, you have to drive to Indian Dunes National Park, about 20 minutes away, and it is not free, you must pay an entrance fee. I can not recall the exact amount, but it was around $25. There is also a beach and other trails. Overall, this was a gorgeous stop and I would recommend it. We would have liked to stay for 2-3 nights, but not only did we not have time, but this was a last minute booking. Go if you can.
Beautiful area, hidden well so it’s quiet the Suprise when you come up on it. You can tell it doesn’t get as much attention as it deserves and I’m sure that’s due to funding but all in all a great stop on the way to UP.
